12A TO 13B Swap 1984
Hey guys new to the site I need as much info as i can get on how to make this swap im thinking of this engine
http://sunrisejdmmotors.com/engine_d...p?id=67&page=1
since it comes with the cpu and the wireing harness im thinking it will be a litte better then just replaceing the ecu and the wireing harness
Im thinking if i buy a manuel for that engine
and buy the manuel for my 1984 mazda and look at the two wireing diagrams i should beable to tell how to hook stuff up though things are never that easy...
I was wondering if anyone can tell me what im gonna have to do to the mounts in order to get that engine in place and then what about the drive line is it gonna be right inline with my nw engine im putting in?
1984 first gen mazda rx7 12a engine 5 speed

There is a lot of work to pull this off. The first thing to consider is mounting the engine. The motor mounts on a 12A are on the front iron, while on a 13B they are on the center iron.
Here is a search for "13B swap": https://www.rx7club.com/search.php?searchid=6192536
Buying a used jspec motor is also a risk. Make sure you have a warranty of some kind, since you will have a good chance of receiving a blown motor. When you get it, there are a number of things to watch out for:
1. Compression: You want 100+ PSI front & rear
2. Spark plugs: if the electrodes are rusted, there was water inside the combustion chamber
3. Interally: check for coolant, rust, excessive oil inside (through exhaust ports)
4. Turbo: check for shaft play, chipped fins or oil leaking past the seals

Hopefully this one works: https://www.rx7club.com/search.php?searchid=6194511
It's just a search of thread titles with the terms "13b swap" in the 1st gen tech section.
