~ '85 Rx-7 GSL still won't start! (New Fuel Pump & Rebuilt Carburetor) ~
So I bought my most recent Rx-7 and it won't start. It's a 1985 Mazda Rx-7 GSL.
The prior owner told me that he stopped driving it a couple of years ago. The last
time he drove it, he claimed it ran with only carburetor issues. (spitting, choking,
etc.) So I cleansed & rebuilt the carburetor only to find that there was no fuel
reaching it. I then bought a New Fuel Pump & still, no gas is reaching the carburetor.
I researched around the site & found that there is a Fuel Pump Cut Relay,
(Part #: FA55-67-740), located underneath the Driver's side dash. I ordered a new
Relay in hope that this will fix my problem and finally initiate the engine to run.
I'm posting this in hope that someone will help a young Rx-7 Enthusiast. I'm just
curious if there could be any other issue causing fuel not to reach my Carburetor?
I'd like to get this specific Rx-7 running soon.
Any guidance is much appreciated.
Thanks.

On 84 - 84 cars, the fuel pump will run while cranking, but will not continue to run if you do not have spark on the trailing ignition system. That would be the first thing I'd check.
Also, you can jump that relay if you need to. Connect two of the three connection together, and then the pump will run anytime the ignition is turned on. I did this a couple of years ago and have no regrets. And you will find that relay right under the steering column.
