Who would swap a v8 in my fc?

I was curious if anyone knew of any places that would swap a v8 into my 1987 TII. I am sick of this friggen engine and it giving me nothing but problems. I love the car and I think it is absolutely gorgeous but I cant stand the aggrivation anymore of trying to get it to pass emissions. She runs great but I cant get her to pass emissions. Does anyone have any ideas or know of anyone that does this?

And you think putting a v8 in is going to be easier to pass emmisions--

Uhh, in comparison to a Rotary, YES, a V8 will OWN emissions. As long as he has a cat for the inspection, (no air pump needed ), he will pass...

How strict is it for emissions? Sounds like you are in cali.

You have egr, 02 sensor, cat converter? If you got all that, there is something seriously wrong. And if you can't get it to pass emissions, that is pretty weird to just swap a v8 into it.

well i have always contemplated the v8 swap because to be honest as much fun as rotaries are they can be a pain... i dont know what is wrong but its actually pretty common in MA for people with TII to fail emissions in fact I know of about 5 people just this past summer that failed with TII's and most eventually got it past but it is wierd... I also think my idle is slightly off to im just getting fed up

Most shops don't want anything to do with a swap like that. Too much work and too little pay.

Really? I figured if you threw cash at any shop for a motor swap, they would do it no problem.

Do you love RX7's ?

If you do then why are you trying to get divorced from your 7 ?

The first reason why we get an RX7 is for the motor and the way we feel when we drive a Rotary. I just cannot fathom replacing its motor with a V8 and still keeping it. Then its no longer a Mazda RX7 !!!

Wake Up Man !!!! I find it so ridiculous that you would still keep the body with a different motor... that doesnt make sense.. for that matter just get yourself a Chevy then... but dont butcher the RX7 by putting an American Motor V8 in it.

Its like taking an old school VW Beetle and putting a Rolls Royce front type hood.
Like Wesley Snipes did in that movie Major League.

Eveyone has there own opinion, but I have to agree the motor in these cars have more cons than pros
I would take a ls1 in mine anyday, looks and real power without having to worry
about a ******* apex seal blowing,or a damn coolant seal,or the damn motor
flooding,should I go on.

****! I guess I have to call my insurance man and tell him he needs to come up with a new rate. Because it damn sure says Mazda RX7 on my policy and I don't want to be committing insurance fraud.

But seriously dude. Shut the **** up.

let the man do what he wants to do, he bought the car. it's either do the v8 swap, or part the ******* car out. which would you rather have? it takes alot of work to do the swap.

if you can afford it, get an LS1 engine because its lighter than the LT1 (its all aluminum) and more powerful too.

what is this WE that you talk about? there are a lot of RX7 owners that dont think the rotary engine is the BEST part of the car.

actually the LS1T56 is an all METRIC setup and doesnt change ANYTHING on the FC... you can fit it under a nonturbo hood and use a TurboII rear end and bolt-on motor mounts. I think you might be too passionate about the rotary to see whats actually a very simple and reliable way to get huge, emission friendly power in an FC... and with NO effect on handling when an LS1FC is set up correctly.

to the thread starter, its an easy swap, you can DIY if you have the space and time. if I was closer I'd help you out but MA is at least 3.5+ hours from me, Boston is 6 hours away.

First and foremost Joey,
Nice car you have there.. I also have a black FD soon to be a Vert as well as an FC Vert with vertical doors...but my engines are both 13B's one with a 45mm Weber and the other just stock twin turbo. I just couldnt see changing the motors to V8's. I had problems with my FC and lots of them.. that is the nature of the beast... so i went for a problem free motor by taking out the EFI and went with a Dizzy and 45MM Weber Carb... no problems any longer...No computer to **** **** up... Here are the pics and results:
