Question Virginia Beach...nice place to stay??

I'm thinking of taking a trip to Virginia Beach for 4th of July, it's going to be my first time visiting. Anyone has any recommendations on where to stay or to stay away from? I just want to go out there and have a great time. I'm def. not into ghetto areas, so something descent would be great. Also, any clubs or spots I should checkout?

Thanks,
Jay

Of course it all depends on what you like. I have not been around the beach club scene for the past couple of years. It of course depends on what you like. Anywhere between 11th street and about 30th street and Atlantic and Pacific avenues will be a busy lively club. These are all of the tourist areas and the locals usually stay way. Hotels along the strip are expensive this time of year, but some of them are really nice. Each has its own good points.

Outer Banks are awesome but you need to go further south. Kitty Hawk is a tourist trap.
Go down past Avon toward Hatteras Island.
