Theft warning for Philly area 3rd gen owners

In late November my busted *** (but still great looking and filled with expensive stuff) third gen got stolen out of my driveway. Whoever stole it was enterprising because it had 4 flat tires, hadn't run in a few years and was behind my 2006 Jeep Wrangler. There were no tire marks in the wet soft ground in the morning to indicate a truck got in or the car was pushed out, my dogs never barked and the neighbors heard nothing. The bastards left my car cover with on the ground and the wire that secures the cover was still locked.
The car hadn't been insured or registered or I was told I'd have been a suspect, I was planning on fixing it when I get back from my upcoming deployment. So it was a total loss, and it had a lot of goodies--a lot. When it was found, it was stripped and trashed and to avoid dealing with the nonsense prior to Iraq, I handed the title to the tow company.
Oh well, life sucks and I might not think about warning everyone, but a buddy who works a Ft. Washington car dealer says the dealership had a third gen towed out much the same way a few weeks ago--within a few days of my car being recovered in North Philly. Thats two third gens stolen within 10 miles of each other by tow trucks (I am in Glenside). IMO that is a trend.
Anyway, be careful with your cars.

Its mostly hondas that get stolen around here these days. Mine was one of the hondas recently... the week of mine it was 3 within a week... The other night there was 3 gone within 10 miles of eachother.

I had an FD stolen along with a friends (2 at the same place & time) a few years back but the mazdas have seemed to calm down as far as theft goes... guess not all the way.

This totally sucks for you dude. I am sorry about your luck. I have a 3rd gen and I work in Fort Washington. I was at the Wawa across from the Volvo dealership about 3 weeks ago and I saw a stock VR 3rd gen parked out front in the customer area. Does that car have anything to do with your friend's story? It's not often you see an FD parked at a Volvo dealership.

Morristown sure as hell is, 100% better. I've been through the bad parts of Philly and Camden, you won't convince me otherwise......

That entire area around Philly is toxic. When I lived in Lancaster I heard about several chop shops . Alot of stolen cars and drugs traffic through that area of PA.
