The only difference between the TII and GXL on an S4 (suspension) was the struts / strut mounts and Maybe the actual springs. The sway bars, end links etc.... are identical. The brakes are the same as well (unless you have a rare one with ABS)

from what i have read, only the TII came with the LSD and bigger brakes. the car that is coming out of is so stripped that i can't even tell is if an S4 or an s5, but i think that is an S5 but am not sure. Before i get it i will check to make sure that the what am buying is an LSD diff. My friend told me that if it is a LSD is stamped in it. any suggestions (?)

Just so you know, the Turbo II rear if installed in your GXL won't be compatable with the driveshaft.
Check the vin number to see if S4 or S5, also motorized seat belts on the S5, and sway bar links are different as well as the lower ball joints. On a S5 they are part of the lower arm. On the S4 they can be replaced. A great deal of parts eg subframe and hubs, control arms, vented brakes are all the same, so $400/500 is quite a bit of money, unless yours are completely rusted/shot.

Yes, the GXL has an LSD
The diff on a TII is also an LSD, yet it is completely different from the GXL diff, and as noted above, requires a custom driveshaft to mate up with an N/A Transmission.
The GXL and TII subframes, to my knowlage, other then springs and struts, are exactly the same.
