Synaptic3 ... Reviews
Yep I've already searched. Doing research on shops to do my swap. Synaptic3 came up several different times. I know these guys sponsor this section. What I haven't seen are reviews from people who has had first hand experience with these guys
So far this is the opinion that I have been able put together:
- The owners had owned rx7s previously
- the work I have seen on their site is mostly FDs
- they do a pretty good job
- they are expensive according to some posters
Can anyone please chime in as to whether the above statements can be substanciated?
I just like to do a lot of research before I make a move. Please try to keep the irrelvant comments to a minimum.

They have worked on my FD before. (Complete look over, compression check, brake fluid replaced and system bled, clutch line replaced, corner balanced, coilover track tune, some things here and there.)
I am pleased with the work I had done, but as you mentioned, i left feeling like I spent a lot more money than I was expecting. In their defense, I was there all day (from 11a.m. to about 2a.m.) since I didn't want to drop it off due to the distance I live away.
As for tuning, their prices are steeper than some other rotary options (considering KDR charges about $150 for a good tune, but is no where near close- but worth it in my opinion) but are competitive compared to shops in the area such as DSG or ESP. I haven't heard any feedback on their tunes, but from what I have heard from Dana, they have a really great dyno set up. The prices also reflect that they have a new set up and overheard that needs to be paid for. Understandable from a business point of view. I predict the prices will go down eventually.
The guys are really great. Very straight forward (even with the prices and estimates), easy to talk to, and very passionate about motorsports. They have a feeling of being racing enthusiasts first and businessmen second. You can trust that your car will be in good hands. I have spent hours on end talking with Dana about my car, what I want to do with it and what they can do for me. Very knowledgeable about rotaries and options. I have seen multiple race cars come out of their shop and it has always been top notch work. Great stuff. I am going to have them convert my car to more of a race oriented FD once my skills warrant the new needs. Ron is the only other one at the shop that I know of, and he's a good guy as well. I have heard the other guys are great, but haven't met them first hand.
I would absolutely recommend them. I have gone through many mechanics throughout my build (and still use different mechanics depending on what I want to do; my friends do the basics for me, I have a local rotary mechanic in Connecticut, and am willing to make the trek to have the work done right, which I did with Synaptic3, KDR, and eventually IRPerformance for some things here and there. I have also had some bad experiences with some rotary mechanics, PM me if you want their names.)
Good luck.

I haven't worked with them but I am like 10mins from them and I know them to be good guys, always straight forward about things and all. I have heard they can be pricey but they do good work and they do keep a rather nicely equipped shop.
