Summit Point Time Trial

Last weekend was the first time i had run the Spring Jefferson Time Trial put on by the NEPA region of the SCCA. What a blast! I had only run the jefferson circuit in a counter-clockwise direction before, but they run it clockwise in the spring, and CCW in the fall.

If you guys want to com out and run a time trial, check out the PA Hillclimb assoc. web site:
http://www.pahillclimb.org/Schedule.htm

The fall event is Sept 3-4.

how well did you do?
I'd be very interested in taking my van when I finish it, but I don't know exactly what sort of safety stuff I'd need.

2nd in S-2 class. That class is pretty much anthing goes from 1651cc - 3500cc (rotarys get classed at 2x their rated displacement ) This mean that I run against purpose built tube frame cars on slicks that never run on the road.

First place went to a Porshe 914-6 that is a dedicated track only car with wide flares and slicks. I was only 0.2 sec behind him and I'm running DOT tires and I'm street legal (mostly!). I've run 61.xxx on that track when my tires were 3 years younger(unofficial since it was with NASA) , so with some new tires I shoud have no problem beating him and setting a class record (61.xxx sec) this fall.

Check out the site I lised above for safty info, but you will need a 2 layer nomex suit, gloves, socks, fire extingusher or system, SA95 or new helmet. You will need to check the GCR for roll bar/cage requirements. I'm not sure they will let the van run - they get picky about things with high centers of gravity, but send them an e-mail to see.
