Summit Point Shenendoah Track 28 March 09

Northern Virginia Corvette Club and NV Mustang CLub sponsoring a low-speed, hi-performance car control clinic at Summit Point Shenendoah track on 28 March. They want help getting to the required number of participants, and have opened the invite to everyone. It's be cool to show them the backside of some RX-7s!

Morning is spent playing with cones and car control. Afternoon is all on the track with an instructor; about 3x 20 minute sessions if I recall right. It's a fun little track.

Low-speed means that verts are allowed w/o roll bars. I still hit over 100 on the short straight though.

The event is on the Jefferson Circuit, not the Shenendoah Circuit at SP - my bad. Still fun.

Sorry, I didn't know that would be the case. Here's the details. They are having trouble getting the min. number of participants so it's open to all comers (with a helmet). You can probably get the registration form by email if you don't want to register at the NVCC or NVMC site.

Summit Point Low speed Hi perf Driving Clinic - Sat. 3/28/09 - 01-05-2009, 06:38 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again, the NVMC is invited to this event. PLEASE READ the below IN FULL, most of your questions will be answered by doing so. If they are not, PLEASE EMAIL the contact persons listed at the bottom of this posting. I am just putting the word out. So, here goes...

Cone Killers Car Control Clinic

Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 6:45 AM TO 5:30 PM

Jefferson Circuit, Summit Point

RAIN OR SHINE

OPEN to all passenger cars (convertibles included-no roll bar required)

If you HATE driving, come on out anyway to develop your confidence and skill.

If you LOVE driving, come on out and love it more.

Either way, we promise great fun, a great day, great learning and great camaraderie in a safe environment, a mere hour and a half drive for most of you.

ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED for this event. There will be a Plethora of Patient Instructors to help and guide you through all the fun.

HEAR what High School Drivers' Ed teachers were forbidden to tell you!

AMAZE your friends with your Driving Knowledge!

FEEL your car do things it has Never Done Before!

LEARN Astounding Facts about driving!

SPEED legally!

NO hyperbole is too extravagant to describe the Thrills That Await!

For your morning pleasures, we have devised a series of Devilish, Demonic and Diabolical exercises to stretch your thinking as well as your driving skills; in the afternoon we will put it all together on this most excellent track, just goin' a little bit faster. Aaaaaaand for an Extra Treat, you can all go for a ride with our Fabled, Fabulous, and Facile Instructors. All this and much more will be imparted to those 39 Lucky Drivers who register early for this rare but spectacular event...

Bring a tarp to put your junk on, dress for who-knows-what-kind-of-weather, wear lace up shoes, cotton long pants and long sleeve shirt and helmet...mandatory! Brain Buckets (helmets that is) can be rented from OG Racing for a mere pittance. They are located in Sterling, Virginia, and their number is 703-430-3303. Helmets must be SA rated, 2000 or later; no motorcycle helmets! To make sure all four wheels are attached to your car, all cars will be "teched" in the morning, so make sure your car is in good condition and safe before you show up. It's a good idea to have it inspected by a qualified technician before the Grand Event.

The fee for this SUBLIME ECSTACY is $175. Please make checks payable to NVCC. Checks MUST accompany registration form (see below). This includes a health packed breakfast of greasy grungy Crispy Crème Donuts, (or a substitute), and coffee burned to perfection right here in West Virginia. Sorry, NO refunds after March 20. Lunch will be available at the track.

By the way, NO WALK-INS, NO CAR SHARING!, NO TRUCKS, NO VANS, NO SUVs! Absolutely no exceptions, so please do not ask!

By the way, by the way, each cone killed will cost ya 2 bits for the funeral, so bring plenty of quarters. All proceeds will be donated to the charity of the group's choice. More information will be made available to those 39 With-It, and astute drivers who register early.

Registration form (Word doc) is located here. Tech form (pdf format) is located here. For event questions, email Miriam Schottland at ms.greywolf@gmail.com or Mark Neblett at mneblett@crowell.com ASAP.

When you come in the entrance the Main course is essentially on your left (you can see it from the gate), Shenandoah is on your right (very tight 17 turn, very challenging and tight), and the Jefferson is the one that you have to wind your way down a road around the outside of the main track to get to. It is essentially shaped like a boomerang. Fun little track, great for first timers, relatively safe, easy to learn.
