well honestly i really cant tell you how it works in the auto business, but i can tell you how it works in the skateboarding business.

first you get a shop to kinda take you under their wing. not pay for all your stuff, maybe some discounts here and there, but they more or less show you the ropes.

then you meet some reps from companies that supply the shops merchandise. talk to them and they start giving you free stuff here and there, and basically get your name in the hat.

then its up to you from there. work your *** off and be the one the rep always talks about to the bigger fish. hope for the phone call...

this could be completely different than the auto industry, but business is business, companies are companies, i would guess its gotta be somewhere along the lines of what i said.

I'm not sure really send a letter to road and track though. They did a whole huge article about SAE. How is it because I want to join so bad when I transfer to texas A&M (FSAE is the reason why I'm going there)

Btw ~ Goodluck in the competition ~

just send letters to local companies and other larger companies. also include a media packet of your previous cars, designs (cad, concept drawings), team profile, and schedule/plans. expect most of them not to get back to you. don't just go for money sponsorships, parts and labor sponsorships are great too (i.e. you might want to get a weld shop or something)

what school do you go to?
