Source for aluminum sheets?

I will be doing some custom ducting for my cars radiator and oil cooler here soon. I need to find out where to get some larger sheets of aluminum so i can begin to fab some stuff up. I thought someone might have an idea where i can pick some up at before i start going around to machine shops asking.

Thanks,
Austin

home depot might have some sheets of thin stuff, you dont need it to be real thick.

ask a local welding shop, or the yellow pages for welding or metal supplies

if you have a sheet metal place like the kind that make ducts they will have it too

If you know someone in printing, thats a very good source. My shop throws out a few hundred pounds of aluminum sheet metal every week.

Shineauto makes a nice undertray for the front airdam of the FD... I've been bugging them to make something for the FC since riveted aluminum is less then subtle. It's relatively cheap, like 115 bucks I believe.

www.mcmaster.com and www.metalsdepot.com

that's where i get all my raw materials for test parts. to oder loads of stuff i use a different distributor, but if you're only doing one run then these are the places to check.

hope that helps,

Hey I can help you out with the sheet metal. I have 1/8 thru 1/2 inch thick sheet metal at my job. We have tons of scrap pieces laying around so if you don not mind driving to Aberdeen to pick it up I can give it to you then. Just pm me if you want some.
