Shop Opening - CK Autoworks, Manassas, VA
As far as I can remember his shop is not set up for emissions or state inspection and I doubt he is certified for either. There are plenty of gas stations that do both.
Duely noted. But if your car fails, it would be nice to have it in a shop that could do the repairs and then re-test it.
To qualify for a waiver you need to have all of your work done by a garage that is certified by Virginia's DEQ. I was hoping that CK might be qualified so that I would be sure that the person doing the work isn't just goin to make things worse.

I’ve known Kyle for close to 10 years meeting him in various settings and he’s ALWAYS been curteous, friendly, and professional. As Bret’s right hand man at RP he’s worked on countless FD’s of mine with nothing but success.
What’s important to me is the quality of the man and Kyle has that going for him in spades so don’t hesitate giving him your business.

Yup.
Kyle once worked well into the night to finish reinstalling my turbos with a part that didn't arrive till that afternoon before I was to leave for a track event at Watkins Glen in the morning, and delivered the car to me near midnight in the pouring rain. They'd run out of a couple hoses and clamps at the shop, so the car was assembled with a few from Kyle's own personal vehicle with the simple request to give them back after the event.

I've got 10 more stories like that

Hell yeah its worth the trip, I just had Kyle help me out big time with getting the wheel bearings replaced on my daily S2000 and there was a part missing from when the previous owner had one replaced and forgot to put this part back in which wore out the bearing, so i had to leave the car at Kyles Shop from Sat to Monday got the part needed to proceed further, Kyle gave me a ride home, and he is the only guy I will let touch my car besides myself, his attention to detail and quality of work is that of someone owning their own car...So if you want to save some money and have a piece of mind knowing its done right and you are not getting ripped off, dont hesitate to give him a call or stop by his shop if you are local....and its not just RX-7's, Miata's, he works on all makes and models...So tell your friends and family members...you'll be glad you did!!!
Heh, funny you should say that. He does do everything/anything. He's now working on replacing my Dad's transmission on a 2001 Ford Explorer.
Good guy with good contacts. He definitely knows his Mazdas, but if you got something else and he can't do it himself, he knows someone that can and will help him out.

Kyle has helped me out numerous times at the track when I was in a pinch. He recently worked on my tow vehicle with new front hubs, front brakes, install of u-joints (all 6 of them) and cleaned out my MAF without me even asking. He is the type of guy that will help you out if you are in a jam. It mostly comes down to character. This is the type of person I choose to work with. I notice that he did not come on here to have an online battle with NewVolare', he lets his work show what type of person he is. Classy guy if my opinion counts for anything.
I took an extend lunch break today and went by to see my old friend kyle,I worked with him years ago at Rotary Performance. Lots of nice FCs, FDs and even a pretty white SA for sale. The work Kyle preforms is damn near flawless - the V8 powered FD but to each their own and the car was pretty sick. Any who any one that doesn't know Kyle or new to the area, He is some one you want working on your ride.
I concur with all the good reviews about Kyle. I went to him recently to get some work done on the FD based on this thread, and I'm absolutely 100% satisfied with his work and professionalism. I've been around to many shops, and they were all lacking in some way. It's hard to find a mechanic that meets my standards for my car. Most people can probably relate to this. There are guys who are nice and talk a good game, but fall short on quality work. There are guys who know what they're doing, but have no comprehension of good service and fair price. Kyle is the rare kind of mechanic who is extremely knowledgable (has an extensive and respected work history), but is also a total class act and a genuinely good guy. He obviously loves what he does, and it shows in how he cares for the customer's vehicle. Kyle will gladly go the extra mile for ya.
So I whole-heartedly give my recommendation. If you're shopping around for some work, give Kyle a call and setup a meeting or something. Just talk to him and get a feel for what he's about, no pressure nothing to lose. You won't be disappointed.

Saw Kyle today and dropped my car off cause we are doing some major changes! I will be posting a lot of stuff in the northeast for sale section soon including my turbo setup and motor
.
Anyone thinking about using him should either give him a call or stop by the shop.

Kyle's had my car for a little while now and I have nothing but good things to say about the guy. If you want something done right then definitely give him a call.
On a related note- stopping by his shop is worth it if only to see ^that guy's 11.5 inch wheels.
