IMO, I have been on previous year cruise's and they were largely unorganized with people getting lost and near miss accidents due to a large line of cars stopping short trying to make a turn last minute.

With the event being at NJMP we have a safe controlled manner to get our cars out on track. For those that cannot afford it, or dont have track prepped cars my understanding is that there will be ride alongs offered and a pace lap style opportunity for people to get their cars out on track where they can enjoy RX-7's going fast legally and safely.
+1. I personally feel a cruise around NJMP is counterproductive.

You know for a fact that when individuals go these cruises, people don't just "cruise" - everyone wants to have their fun and go racing around on public roads. One of the main reasons we decided to have this event at the track is to promote legal and safe driving ON the racetrack, NOT on public roads. On top of the fact that if people do go out on the roads around NJMP and get in an accident/get pulled over for speeding, that wouldn't necessarily look too good for the organizers of this event.

Conclusion: if you can't afford $200/day for a track day, then don't speed on public roads b/c you can't afford a $200 ticket for speeding.

Forgot to mention that people who want to get on track as John Renna stated: Scrub aka Danny Mac will be tracking his beast and wants to try and give as many people as possible ride alongs. Also I believe Mr. Renna himself might be able to give a ride along or two.

Kills 2 birds w/ one stone: you get on track plus you are able to learn some driving techniques from two great drivers.

I'm not gonna have my rx7 track ready, but I am definitely going to try to get to this event to hang out & have some fun either way. Here's hoping my schedule works out.

Hey Rich, not sure if you remember me but we met at Rotorfest. If you remember you said my brother looked like well you know who. I'm sad to say we wont be making it. My big brother was working on the FD, just got the pfc and full exhaust shipped in, and while unbolting the cat back the jack stand kicked out and the car fell..he didn't make it.. I will try to be there if I'm strong enough.

I just would like everyone to know, Although he didn't post much on the club he has had 7s all his life and loved them very dearly, as I did him. I plan to do as he wished and finish building both his 88 vert and the FD as well as start a small rotary shop called Rotary Haven. He was an amazing person, mechanic, friend, and brother.

If I don't make it this year I will next.

Holy **** im soo sorry dude.

I, too know of a kid that this poor tragedy happened. He was changing his oil on his accord and only used a jack, not jack stand. Well the jack failed and his mother found him under.

Its the saddest thing ever. I got goosebumps reading your post. Thats soo terrible.

Sorry again man, my prayers will go out to him, you and your family.

He truly was an amazing guy. I also wanted to tell you Rich, on our 7 hour ride home in the FD he mentioned how he thought you were a great guy. He loved 7s, and enjoyed to be around guys like us. It looks like I will be attending the Carlisi after all and bringing our Dad. I'll get on the paypalling for entry for the two of us in a couple days when things settle down at home with all the family and friends around. The FD needs a tune after I finished Travs work with the full 3" exhaust and the aftermarket stock mount IC. I'm being extremely easy on it. But I will be there. Thank you for the prayers and kind words.

^Omar, you're 100% right.

I've tried to recover my lost password for rx-8club without success. I'll probably just create a new account this weekend to post it up

It'll be good to see ya there big Roan

So I just spoke to the organizer of the track weekend and learned some exciting news:

During the noon lunch hour we will have Lead and Follow sessions behind a pace car (no passing) with groups of 7 cars at a time (is that number coincidence? ). Glen told me that every rotary that is on site in support of the Carlisi meet will be able to go out free of charge for a 'Taste of the Track'..... no helmets required for these laps

Also some other news:

For those tracking, please arrive at 7am, 7:30 at the absolute latest. Shoot to be done with tech at 8am, tech will be closed at 8:30am. You'll be out there running sessions until 6pm-ish.

They hope to have 7 sessions of 15 to 20 minutes each, and after the second session if someone is experienced on track they'll be able to bring passengers out with them. For those with extra helmets, definitely bring them along as I'm sure someone will need them

Also, for those last minute guys and gals, there still is time to sign up..... it's advisable to sign up ahead of time but worst case you can sign up the day of. The point of contact on the track for the cars will be a nice woman by the name of Michelle

Lastly, we will have a 'cooldown' session at the Finish Line pub at the end of the day. They're located on the track grounds and feature great burgers and frosty beer

Can't wait to see everyone there, it's going to be a blast

I had an absolute blast on Saturday and I hope everyone else did too . We had approximately 25 Rotary-powered cars, 60 people, and most importantly we raised over $3000 to donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Chris' name! The community really came together and made it happen

Thanks go out to Dan McVicker, Austin Edwards, Tom Frascone, Garret Taynai (who flew in from FL for the event), Ryan Farrell, Marc Ferrari, Ron and Judie Carlisi, and my mother Joanne for all the support and assistance. This event wouldn't have been a success without all of you

A big Congrats goes out to Brandon Potter, who won the Sakebomb Garage Bi-Xenon Projector HIDs (which really drove demand on the raffle tickets) and Cory Marc, who won the 2012 Chris Carlisi Memorial Engine

Lastly, a big THANKS to all of our generous sponsors this year! In addition to the below prizes, Judie Carlisi sponsored one lucky dog's track day, and Ron Jenna of BlueBerryFarms fame hot-lapped all day long free of charge courtesy of Judie

Definitely one of the best events any given year and the only event I make sure to make it to every year since I owned a rx7. And did not disappoint again this year. Had a blast watching the racing and seeing the rx7's passing every other car out there. Also was happy to take a ride on the track for the pace run behind ray's 20b. Thanks to everyone who organized and to all of the sponsors for who make the event possible and for having a great raffle. Definitely wanted those darn headlights but I think I won something from every vendor there.
