Rotorfest 2006 Comments suggestions?

first of thanks to everyone that attended. its a shame the car show only had half of the attendance of last year....... maybe next time. i spoke with the owner of the track periodically and he was happy with everything. we are invited back again for 2007 and i will have a date in early january sometime. i already have a few things i want to change for next year. the price for the car show will probably be going up about $10 for next year. so i can actually afford to get you guys some prizes besides just the trophies.... $25 is still cheap to goto a car show....i may also do first and second place for each class next year instead of just best of show, i have a year to plan ahead, hopefully we can keep improving. also for next year if you are not in the car show you will not be parking on the same side as everyone else in the car show.

any comments post em up!

I had a great time, eventhough I almost ripped off the front end on my widebody FB cause I am a dumbass.

One suggestion would be to try and get some venders there. I know it is a small informal show but it would be cool to be able to buy some stuff at the show.

It was Bro.

Oh Well. I ask for more vendors also. I was hoping that Atkins could've been there I needed to pick up an apex seal set asap but I guess I'll have to wait.

More vendors and tents, paved roads, cleaner bathrooms ( i pissed in the sink), better food, and ******* a place to sit. What happened to the seats man.

Then they screamed on Dwayne and his wife cause we wanted an aerial view to record on the track. They was gonna call security, i would farted in tehre face when they stood behind me.

More runs for the rotary on the race track.

This year was dead! Not many cars at all and everyone left early.

The best part was Romeos FB eating up the American Muscle car, got dat **** on video

really great time. paved ground would be good and i liked how you had the cars parked according to generation. i would keep that for next year. it was easier to compare the cars with them all parked together. id say a dj? maybe a bikini contest? just think of all the thing's that are good about big name car shows like HIN. either way, i had a really great time. thanks a lot for setting it up. i appreciate your time the you put into making it possible

i will try for more vendors next year.......this year was a test for me to see if i could run it smoothly by myself for the most part.

the car show paper didn't matter as far as the awards, i wrote down license plates and description of what cars won.

the sound category was sort of a problem because when we went around nobody had their trunks open!!!

Well, i had a good time... Other than loosing my key to the 7, but Island Dragway found it and is sending it to me by mail. Feel a lil dumb taking my column apart at the show to get my car home, but its all cool... Ill see what i can do about next year, kind of a long drive to Island Dragway. It was def. cool to meet some of the peeps in person.

Def. Get more runs for rotaries! I know I posted but I found some other stuff.

More women. More places to sit. Bigger attractions like "This guy with his 25 rotor fb is gonna run 7's"

More public advertising = More people?

I don't think the show people should be seperated from the spectators cars. I liked the arrangment this year. I think ther should've been more attraction at the track. I'm honestly sick of seeing v8's run 12's with open headers...

Better food. I left cause I tried to eat a half cooked hamburger and my nephew wasn't havin that lol.

Other than that, I was entertained and my uncle was entertained (which is hard to do).

Can't wait for next year!

one word: megaphone

Couldn't hear **** when you were talking.

More runs on the track for the rotary guys.

I payed for showing my car, even though it wasn't really a show car, so no reason
for me to park somewhere else, no need to park others elsewhere either. Just keep them out in the middle of nowhere like you did. Part of the family, yet not hehe.

Agree with vendors, I could have used a tranny

Maybe get someone to drag a portable dyno there for the guys that would rather dyno war than run the track.

Park the FC's in the shade =)

I think you ran it fine jon. I've been goin to rotorfest since 2002, so I've seen a lot of changes for sure. Vendors would be nice, as much as I like to see other 7's theres only so much you can bs about with owners. I'm surprised at the turnout this year, was very small compared to previous years, not sure what thats about. Kinda got boring after a while, we ended up leaving early. Is it set in stone that we'll be there again next year? Englishtown is a much better place, but cost wise I'd imagine thats a bigger stretch to get...

englishtown will not hold this event there. truthfully they will not *make enough money* off it/us

i'm going to purchase a megaphone for next year. last year i borrowed one.... either that or i will put a loudspeaker on my sweet van just for this!

how many runs did those of you that drag raced get ? i saw 2-3, for $10 extra you cant really complain.... i wish enough people would drag race so that we could the use whole facility just to ourselves but that will not happen unless attendence doubles or triples for 2007.

i should just say there is a parking fee with the parking fee you also get car show admission....

there were less cars this year than last year. why i'm not sure? i think the crappy weather on saturday probably scared alot of people away...

we all know island is not perfect, nor as nice as etown but it is what we have and i'm happy with it. no other track would even talk to us! so everyone keep that in mind.....

I think the record high gas prices probably have a something to do with it. Plus some of the cars wren't ready (mine) or broke on the way down.
Vendors would be great. Some more shade would be nice! Maybe a swap meet or tech sesion or raffle or something?

I had a good time. Not too much to complain about, i have never been too one before so i didnt really miss the huge turnouts. As for food we (NYRA) were the only people there who brought our own grill, we were the guys who asked you if we were allowed so we were pretty much set. I think the arrangement by generation worked well . The only thing I expected more of was the whole show aspect of it. I didnt even realize the judging/prizes were goin on till I saw people walking past me with trophies.

oh and DROPTOP88rx-7. Im glad you found your keys, me and Anil were walking around asking people if they had a worn out second key so we could see if it would start you up but no luck.

I think you need to get a bit more info out about Rotorfest before the event. Set up a website with detailed info. A single post on a forum isn't going to cut it. Get banners on the popular rotary websites linking to a Rotorfest website. I couldn't find any more info on Rotorfest except that little bit that you posted and that wasn't enough.

I wasn't able to make it to Rotorfest this year. So I may be suggesting things that you're already doing. If so, ignore. Some of my suggestions are from other meets that I've been to that have been a great success. I prefere the Rotorfest type meet over a HIN show or just going to the drag strip for a street night. I'm really disapointed that I couldn't make it.

Get a DJ. Forget that megaphone. Have a DJ and make all the announcments with a microphone over his system. Guys with megaphones are annoying. DJs are cool.

A dyno shoot out would be sweet. I think there are a few companies that have portable dynos that would love to attend an event like this. $$ for them, entertainment for us. Prizes or prize money for this event would also spice things up.

We're there prizes or trophies for the fastest drag times and trap speeds?

Vendors are also good about giving away cool stuff if you wanted to do a raffle. They could also give stuff away to the guys who won the car show, drag race or dyno shoot out.

Rent out the track or at least a lane so guys can get in as many runs as they want.

Get other members to help you out. You need to do a lot of work to have a big successful event. Many hands make light work. You don't have to do everything yourself.

Pete

if I remember the track wanted insurance for any DJ or vendor, so a small vendor will probably not have the correct insurance, and to pay a professional dj who does have the insurance will cost too much money.

As for seats and tents- when you go to any show you need to bring your own. Those portable tents can be bought for less then $40 now, chairs for $10 each. Go to any show and your all set. Sometimes I set mine up at my house if Im having alot of people over for a BBQ so people have somewhere else to hang out except under the table umbrellas.

Sad thing is that the last two places they had Rotorfest was the better locations, I think the 1st place we out-grew it, and the 2nd place we messed that up for ourselves by not respecting the park. There was no drag racing, but there was plenty of places to sit, nice bathrooms, people with thier kids could play in the park, and they did not hassle over the insurance, etc...

The more Vosko adds to the show, the more it will cost. Tent and chair rentals, djs, all costs money, can be offset with vendors, but they need to have the right insurance.

Don't hire a DJ. Get someone from RX7/8club to DJ for free.

the track still wanted insurance for the DJ even if he is not hired.

I know when I had a friend of mine DJ my wedding who normally DJs in clubs we had to buy him a insurance policy, it was $600

Hey I have no complaint but I would prefered if we had have it in the same location what Rob xx7 mention in park, and also the scene to me is changing alot of new face's but those who want to drag race I guess can't go wrong where it took place because of the price wise. Also it was nice to see some old face's too,
btw who is Jason? your business card name is NY Rotary Association? I found your caed on my windshield?
