Powder coating in NoVA area?

Welp. I can't carry this up to my 4th floor apartment, let alone fit it in my oven, so that's out...

I need to sandblast and powdercoat the rear axle for my 1st gen RX-7. Any suggestions on a place... I need no fancy artwork or colors or anything, just simply killing the rust and putting a durable coating on it.

Might Sandblast it myself if I can find a good air compressor.

You could always do the Skip Barber Powdercoating Treatment (TM).
1. sandblast part.
2. spray part down with brake cleaner.
3. spray 5 light coats of flat black primer.
4. spray 2 light coats of gloss black and then wet/dry sand with 300grit.
5. spray 3 light coats of flat black.
6. spray 1 medium/heavy coat (just heavy enough, but no drips) gloss black.
7. buff with cotton diaper.
8. sit back and enjoy.

or, for the quickie powdercoat.
1. sandblast part.
2. spray part down with brake cleaner.
3. 3 light coats of flat black.
4. 1 medium coat of gloss black.
5. sit back and enjoy a little bit less.

Is this related to the "Skip Barber Driving School"? How's it related?

I really want htis to stand up to some abuse, so powdercoating that's actually baked on would be my first option unless it's too freaking expensive. Then I'll do the Skip Barber method...

Anyone else got any other suggestions?

yo man, try checking out a place called American Stripping. It is in Manassas Park VA. I have many things powder coated by them and they do great work for a pretty good price.

A dude I know who worked there said that this method is how they reconditioned their front uprights after they had been damaged/scuffed to keep them looking *bling*.

Digging this back up from the dead... I'll do the Skip barber treatment. Krylon is easier to reapply when it gets chipped up by rocks and such.

I still need a place to sandblast the axle though. It's rusty as hell.

Love to see a list of a few shops that powdercoat. Also - if anyone knows a place that chromes as well, I'm debating between the two for my stock wheels.
