I've been hearing some rumors that PFS isnt as good at tuning RX-7s as they used to be. Reason being they are tuning more other cars now a days like porsches, etc. Has anyone been to him for a tune lately? What do you all think?

Peter Farrell is now a silent partner in PF Supercars. The day-to-day management and technical work are being done by Ray Wilson. Ray is a super-tech. If he can't make your car run well, no one can. That's the good news. The bad news is that he tends to be backed up, due to being so meticulous, so you'll have to schedule well in advance.

I just had a Tec3r installed on the RXX-7, including the dyno time to make sure it ran well and reliably. I scheduled two months in advance, and it still took 5 weeks to get the car back from him. I don't want to say it, since I hate losing 5 weeks of fine convertible weather, but it was worth it to get his expertise applied to the car. He found more than one problem that would have skated right past most technicians.

Peter Farrell isn not a partner any longer. Ray has bought him out. As for tuning, you won't find a better tuner/mechanic than Ray, period.

Thanks for setting the record straight on that, Ernie. I don't know if you mentioned it to Ray or if he saw the post, but he sent me an email that clarified that he had bought out Peter before moving to Maryland. My apologies to anyone misled by my post.

The answer is that PFS is now BETTER than they used to be. Ray is an honest guy and an awesome tuner.

Soo from what I hear he refuses to tune S4's and may occasionally tune an s5 or so but he prefers to work on FDs and pretty much only FDs. Does anyone know how much truth there is to this statement? 'Cuz I live not to far from PFS and I would love to take my car there when it's finished; Assuming they will even tune it for me

Instead of speculating why not just pick up the phone and find out from PFS directly if they will work on your car? Just a thought....

Because I have called, left a message and e-mailed them and have yet to get a response. So seeing as how all these people praised PFS I figured I would just as soon ask them. Thanks anyway

I drove out there 2 months ago for a dyno tune session(it was my first time dealing with PFSupercars). Ray fixed some minor problems on the fly and got 315 WHP on 10 Lbs. I was very impressed and will be going back to get tuned for high boost(primary coil was going out).

I understand he's busy, I'm not upset I haven't heard from him, I only brought that up because you said why don't you pick up the phone instead of asking you all. I was just curiouse if he is willing to tune FCs or not that's all

I don't see why he wouldn't work on FC's. I've seen them there before.

The reason ray doesnt really like to work on FC's is they are obviously older, and tend to bring more problems than the FD. In most cases, and this is from my point of view, not rays, FC's tend to be more beat, jerry rigged, and not in a good running condition. You should get in contact with him, as he did tune my buddies FC, and a few other FC's that i know of. He has no problem tuning them, just doesnt prefer to work on them.

Thanks guys thats all I wanted to know. I can understand not wanting to work on "jerry rigged" cars there's not argument there. But the fact that he will work on a well-maintained/well-modified fc is good news. Thanks a lot for your help guys.

Ray has never really done any work on my car (since I do my own work), but I know him and have seen him in action.

If anyone was going to touch my car, Ray would be on the short list.

I would give him a call and set something up.

He'll tune the car after he does a diagnostics on it and compression test, so he don't get blamed for a faulty motor someone else built.
