cool,, thanks a alot, that's right up my alley......who should i say sent me???.....also there was a guy named bernie who used to be on starr st in bushwick, he moved and i lost contact, um trying to get a hold of him, ....does that ring a bell???
Good luck and really take your time when choosing a place. I've had my car painted twice and both times was not happy at all. One place was a very very recommended place owned by another RX-7 owner and it was still horrible. I also had the bumper resprayed by a highly recommended place and that experience was also horrible.
You might want to look into vinyl wrapping, thats what I'll be doing next since it seems nobody actually knows how to paint in the NYC area.

i've quoted at a few places with good reputation, i've seen their work and it's quality work around $3k to 3500.......6k is waaaaaay too much, i have the ground kit already all they gotta do is spray it, no to mention is a vert (no roof)....
Standalone Customs Inc. 148-08 94th Ave Jamaica, NY 11435. Ph: 718.262. 8700. Fax: 718.874.9825 ... let them know jason with the rx7 refered you . My cars currenty getin worked on there so u can go see the type of work that's bein done
4500-6k is what mos shops with good quality pain jobs would charge.
This is a paint job where you will get your car back on the scheduled date, remove & paint bumpers, moldings , trim and pain the door jams.
If you opt for the cheap paint jobs lookout for over-spray, orange-peal , waves etc.
But hey you get what you pay for.

No one I know would paint a whole car for $3k let alone change the color, no roof or not.
Ill tell you what the difference usually is: a established shop KNOWS how long these things take to put out a good job. They know what to charge. You might think its high but you dont really know all that is involved to put out a top notch job. Priming the car, block sanding, priming again, sanding again versus spraying wet on wet sealer. Scuff pads instead of sanding the whole car, etc.
So you go to another shop and they give a price and end up regretting the job or they are out of business in a few years from not being able to sustain themselves.
Good luck with your choice but I got to be honest I would be hesitant of a $3k color change paint job, roof or no roof. Especially considering you have ground effects and you want moldings shaved.
