Official Skyline Dr. Cruise Thread for 10/17/2010
Since my camera battery died I'll have to wait until a bit later to post my pics, although with it just being a point and shoot I can't promise much.
Overall, an awesome day and a great drive! Hope to make something like this happen once a year! With more 7s next time.
Mike
And the rest!

Okay, that's all I got. Some had to be deleted as they were just too blurry. Maybe next time I bring my HD camcorder? By the way, where did y'all go for lunch?

Our very first group cruise turned out to be a total success! A big thanks go out to everyone who helped this happen
We absolutely have to do this every year! So hows everyones schedule near Thanksgiving?
Oh yeah, Mike you've got a hidden mad man in you!

Re: Mike the Madman ...all I can say about that is, you had to be there to fully understand.
We ended up eating at Marshall Diner, nothing too special but solid eats. I think we need to plan a spot for the next time. That parking lot couldn't have held many more 7s.
We will definitely be doing this again, I don't know about it being too often but I'm thinking we may want to make this a beginning and end to the CFA season? Possibly one in the middle? I dunno it will give us something to talk about during the long winter months.
Can't beat the price though

Here is a couple more photos that I got from my phone.
Heading out 211
More 211

Great photo just before the hill climb. (Hard to see due to low resolution but that yellow sign on the right says "Motorcycles - High Crash Area Next 3 Miles")

Another one of Black Betty

Certainly a plus when it came to the $15 fee. Gotta love power outages!
This mad man/togue king somehow screwed up a highway pull. Couldn't figure out why I wasn't gaining speed in 4th gear in low RPMs. Duh.
Where and when can we drive next?

If you're comfortable assuming those kinds of risks, you are ready to bring your car to the racetrack. Two hours a day of driving flat out (but in a controlled environment). I think Justin is itching to go to an event too. We should all go together.
I was busy on sunday but if you do another drive I may go depending on when it is. If you are looking for a place to eat Front Royal has a few places right off the highway and there is a great pizza place on the way into town called the melting pot if anyone wants pizza/wings etc...
(Had to post this figured this thread would be best, reminded me so much of our trip.)
Did anyone else catch the new Top-Gear episode which the presenters take a trip to Va/NC to ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Check out the clip of them riding around at 35. Haha, don't we all know what that feels like
Check out later in the film too when they take some laps around VIR. After that they drive up through DC (en route to NYC) and roll around in South East.
Here's a link for the show if you don't get BBC

Heh yea, I saw it. The parkway segment was funny but kind of disappointing that they couldn't shoot on a closed road or something and go tearing around. The VIR bit was fun. I'm sad that I wasn't able to attend after being invited to the track for that day of shooting
I'm sure they did close it, at least the section that they tore down to get into NC (Called Grandfather Mountain http://www.bbcamerica.com/us/forums/viewthread/1588/). I think that they just wanted to make a point about how ridiculous it is to have such a great road with that speed limit.
I wonder if they went over to (or even know about) Deals Gap?
