Official 2011 North NJ DGRR Caravan - Who's In?

As with every year Rich (Goodfellafd3s) and I lead a caravan from North NJ down to DGRR. We are leaving early in the morning on Thursday April 28th (8am sharp) and make the trip in one day to enjoy the entire day on Friday.

We will be stoping on the way in Wilmington DE to pick up Mr. Scrub (Dan) and some others.

The event runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so by rolling in late thursday night we won't miss out on anything and should get a few extra runs of the Dragon in

Where: Friendlys parking lot
192 Madison Ave
Convent Station, NJ 07961

When: April 28th Thursday - Leaving 8am SHARP!

Why: Do you have to ask? DGRR is hands down one of the best rotary gatherings ever conceived

So who is in for the caravan? Theorie/Bagelman, amp/Jio, DJF(NJ), Marc/2-rotor, Dennis, Manny, John, Renna, Andy, Gordon etc......

I hate that you guys meet up a half hour off of the highway, it seems like such a waste of an hour to go to the meet spot and then back to the highway instead of just meeting right off the highway somewhere.

Might want to go to Google maps and check your geography there...we meet 1 mile off of 287 which last time I checked is a major highway in NJ

I meant half hour off of the actual highway we have to take to Deals Gap. I went through side roads last time though, I should've taken the 287 down last year to save time.

I will be heading down with at least two other cars (non rotary), but not until Thursday afternoon because people have to work that day. I plan to drive 80% of the way Thursday and then get there early Friday morning.

I did the whole ride straight there and back 14 hours each way. I actually drove there on 3 hours sleep too haha. It hurt my legs bad but it was worth it to be able to sleep those extra couple of precious hours Friday morning.

I don't know if I could do it on three hours sleep but long distances don't bother me a bit. I would do the whole thing Thursday and plan to arrive at 2 or 3 am but the people I am going with don't want to and I am not sure if NVNC has late check ins.

You can check in to the hotel any time you want, nobody is actually there. They just leave envelopes with peoples names on them with keys in them, you find your envelope and just go to your room. There was no staff there at all when I checked in around 1am.

UPDATE:

Based off of lack of interest & some change in plans we are moving the caravan meeting spot to Delaware on Thursday at 8am. We are meeting off of I-95 at the rest top (only one in DE)- I believe it's exit 5.

Guys the rest area is in the middle of I-95. Yes it is the only one on I-95 in Delaware, just past exit 3 when you're headed south. It's pretty hard to miss it.

This is correct, the caravan is now moving down to the sunshine state of DE.

You guys are still welcome to meet up at the Friendly's parking lot in Morristown and then head down our way

Are you going to be bringing some home grown NYC bagels with you?
