NYRA Meet @ Valley Stream State Park on 4/8/07 @ 11:00AM
Hello Guys / Gals,
The first NYRA meet will be held in Vally Stream State Park in Nassau County, Long Island. The meet will begin at 11:00am in the Morning. Based on previous experience from 2006, bring a sweater and jacket as it might still be a lil chilly, but that didnt stop the members from having a good time last year.
Since its a state park they do charge a $6 entrance fee. They will give you a parking ticket which you have to display on your dash board. THe fee is per car, not per person.
For more informatiion on VS State Park check out the following link: http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/info.asp?parkID=51
FOOD:
They do have grills on site but i wouldn't recommend using them, I will be bringing my grill so that fellow guests can use it they please. So if you have an extra grill or two please bring them (with charcoal lol) <~~many times we had to do charcoal runs =)
On previous meets we have composed a food list where each member contributes to the BBQ, this is done to avoid any obligation of CLUB DUES. Every member that participates can then eat from everyone elses food. We know its not polite to free load off of other peoples food, so if you plan on doing a POTLUCK then post up what you will be contributing. The other option would be that since myslef and other members wll bring grills and charcoal, everyone chips in $5 at the MEET, and we will make a combined food list, do a bit of shopping and grill away! King Kullen Supermarket is right around the corner!
If you just want to come and hang out thats totally fine and not frowned upon.
I will bring a grill, with some homemade burgers, hotdogs, chips, and some soda, to get the party started. So get there early =P
DIRECTIONS
Coming From NJ, NYC Area
Take Cross Island Expressway towards Southern State Parkway to Exit 15A
Coming from LI

NYRA Dual Meet April 8th.....(UPSTATE NY/MA/VT PEEPS READ THIS!!)
So me and Jason were talking it up and since the April 8th NYRA meet is way out on Long Island we came up with the idea to put together a dual meet and have the original meet on long island as well as a meet in albany for those who dont want to head to long island or would have to far to drive.....
so those of you in buffalo, syracuse, massachucettes, vermont or wherever else who still want to meet up let me know
im proposing Thatcher Park which is right outside Albany and the meet start time will be 11 AM.....we can start later if more guys need extra time to travel
Thatcher park will also be the site for the bigger August NYRA meet so this will be a good chance for us to scout out the best spot for later in the year as well as get everyone from upstate together
Please post, send me a PM or IM me on aim: ramelrx7 if you plan on attending.....
I need to know if we are gonna have enough people to make this worthwhile because if only 3 people say they will show up then we mid as well just head to long island.....so spread the word to everyone you know with a rotary powered vehicle!!!
So in short....
April 8th, 11AM Thatcher Park near Albany.....Alternate meeting for NYRA members who cant make the trip down to long island......

Ok so the list is starting to grow of attendees and i think this meet may be worthwhile here
so here is some good info:
Directions to the park:
Take I-90 to Exit 4 (Route 85/Voorheesville)
(The I-90 spur that runs through Albany, for those of you coming from the west/Syracuse you would get off at Exit 24 on the thruway and follow the signs for I-90)
Follow Route 85 for about 12 miles and until you see a sign for Thatcher Park Rd/Route 157
(Route 85 will be mostly flat then start to climb uphill, it is during the uphill portion that this intersection will occur....)
Follow this road for another mile or two and you will be in Thatcher Park, im not sure which parking lot we will occupy as of yet this will be posted later on as the meet develops as some lots may not be open yet and i need to survey the park first
Aside from that we should start a supply list.....
If anyone has a portable bbq that would be helpful and charcoal too!
I will bring burgers and hot dogs
We need to develop a list for chips, beverages and whatever else you deem necesary so send me a pm or post here!

Nice mike. Yeah it would be good to do dual meets. This will help promote other rotary members in the upstate region to come out with there rotary cars. The NYRA meets started out with only 7 cars at our first meet and by the end of the year we had 73, so it takes some effort. Once the ppl in albany region see that there are local meets, they will feel compelled to come out and hang out.
The reason for this is that we are throwing around starting an official second chapter of NYRA in the upstate region extending east to west from albany to syracuse region. We know its hard to come out to NYC for meets, that why we hold meets in LI, NYC, and even bear mtn which is a good even point between albany and NYC.
So once we get enough upstate people that want to attend meets, we can do JOINT meets between the two big NYRA chapters at the central lcoation of bear mtn for an even bigger MEET.
So i know theres a lot of upstate guys, it just a matter of time before we all get to know one another.
NYRA will be doing an OFFICIAL meet this year most likey in AUGUST, so we will all be traveling from down here to up there to see our fellow bretheren.
Hollah
So please contact mike (AIM: RamelRX7), whose NYRA albany representative if you have any questions or comments
For Syracuse contact Josue (AIM: ThaPrDemon), or Dave (AIM: DBeardsley74) in Ithaca for more info.

Hey Jason... It's Rob. How about the 6th? I think Saturdays would be better since we don't have to get all tired from a meet and have work or school the next day?
