NYRA August 10th Meet in Albany
Hey everyone just starting to spread the word about the NYRA August meet which will be at John Boyd Thatcher Park which is about 10 miles outside of Albany in the town of Voorheesville
If there is going to be a NYC caravan let me know we can set up a meet spot right in Albany and cruise together to the park from there.

albany really isnt that far, a lil over 2 hours, you prolly drive that long just to go to the meets on long island by the time you sit in traffic
i dont know why nyc people think albany is so far away
me and everyone else have no problem driving down to nyc for the meets and Jason set this one up to be here

Ok here are the details for the meet
At 11am we will meet in Albany at a big parking lot on Broadway and then do a mini cruise from there to Thatcher Park ~20 min The address is around 750 Broadway but ive included a map attachment to show where it is, basically coming from the south on 87 you would go to exit 23 and take 787 N to exit 3, then follow the signs for Clinton Ave, at the end of the ramp make a right on Broadway and the lot is 2 blocks up on the left across from the post office. Coming from the west you would take 90 to exit 24 and continue on 90 to exit 7 which would put you on 787 S, then just take exit 4B Clinton Ave and the directions are the same from there. (Note there is no 4B going North so you must take exit 3)
Beyond that if you just want to meet at Thatcher Park you want to go to exit 24 on the NYS Thruway (doesnt matter what direction your coming from) and continue on 90 East to exit 4 Route 85. From there follow 85 out for about 6-8 miles or so, youll go through a few rotary circles early on, just make sure you pay attention to the signs. 85 is also known as New Scotland Road but is well marked with the route 85 signs.
Eventually you will see a sign that says Thatcher Park 5 miles, then the road starts to go uphill. Once you hit the crest of the hill you want to turn right onto route 157 and just follow that into the park. There will be several parking lots/picnic areas as you drive along 157 but you want to look for about the 3rd one on the right, I believe its labeled "Overlook Area" but I attached pictures showing what the 2 entrances look like, its not hard to miss. From here there are great views, a snack bar, a large grassy area to picnic and bbq on and plenty of parking. There is also the start of the Indian Ladder trail here for anyone who wants to take a short walk and see some cool waterfalls and caves.
Any questions give me a call 845-649-4193
Now lets start a list of who is actually going.....

Eats, Sleeps, Dreams Rotary
This NYRA meet is aimed at bringing out the local rotary guys in the Upstate Region of NY, but I always encourage my fellow Rotor heads from the Metro Region to attend. I hope the local Albany guys can contact mike in regards to the albany rotary crew and see if the albany area can begin to grow like the lower portions of NY has.
thanks for all your help mike, im sorry there wasnt more of a buzz. I will keep trying to collect the masses.

so after waiting in the parking lot from 1045 til about 1130 the only car i saw was a mazda 6 from ct which didnt stop in the lot so could have been a coincidence they even drove by
i decided to run up to thatcher park to see if anyone was there and saw a white 1st gen leaving and as i try to turn around to catch him a sheriff pulls me over for making an illegal uturn
so now im going to watch the olympics because once again this meet sucked and no one really came
