Jim runs the shop I have been dealing with him and only him for about 5 years now, he does top notch work and knows his ****. He's built a few 3 rotors, 2 of them are members on here, and the 3rd 20b swap he did was in a rx8 which looked like top notch work.
He also built my FD's motor and I am very happy with it so far and I love his pricing, I believe he would never rip anyone off and trys to get the best deals for anyone, He has even done some work on my FD at no charge which I couldnt be more thankful for but I made sure to throw him some money for his time.
He has a great fabricator that builds Jim whatever he needs, I have personally seen the manifolds that he had built and the tig welds on them were beautiful... looked like a machine did the welds!
Whenever I have a question about something I give him a call and he goes over everything with me over the phone, he's a great guy who helps out everyone he can.
Demetrius use to be his tuner and tuned my PFC and I loved the tune, car drove just like factory if not better no hesitations or stumbles anywhere under any throttle conditions.
Jim now has a new tuner named Wilmer I believe said to be someone who will go over every part of the tune with you and show you what each setting does and will work for hours on a car to get perfect if need be since he stands behind his reputation.

I trust my 500whp FD with KDR and will highly recommend them to anyone.

I should add Tony is also a decent tuner but he certainly needs to work on not changing prices without the customers consent. Like I said, need lots of work wth customer service.

Well I'd say second hand information not rumors but yea I did sound like I was coming from the rumor mill. I've met some customers who weren't to happy with the service. Its hard for these people to post (they may still be trying to work things out so no reason to burn bridges) or some of them are just to lazy to post and others just don't like conflict. I' ve heard of good things about TnR in the paaast and I'm sure they turn out good cars but the bad stuff is hard to ignore. I treat this thread like I would treat a friend asking where he should go. Its hard for me to not mention what I have heard. I just do my best with the info I have.
I don't have anything against the people at TnR, I just wouldn't take my car to them because I feel like there are other places who have been around for a while that have a better rep.
You're right though, we should do our best to be vigilant about rumors.

Update on "KDR" from Uncle Doug
KDR is now called Speed 1. He's still at 898 Old Rte. 22, Lenhartsville PA 19534, but the contact info has changed (see below). Also, previously Dave was hard to reach by phone because he's so busy, but now he's got an office manager named Frank Pellegrino, who answers the phone, schedules appointments, etc.

Looks like Enzo in New York is the closest to me here in CT. There is a place in Bethel CT, but they don't tune rotaries, only subaru, ford, BMW (weird combo).
Just bought this FD and it's lightly modded, but running an off the shelf base map on the PowerFC. Needs to be cleaned up for me to not have a problem at emissions. I'll give a call and see if I can get in.

I took my FD to Enzo when I got back home from Afghanistan in the middle of July. The car had a BRAND NEW engine in it, streetported and rebuilt by PFS. I took the car to IRP for some prep work before having the map done. By the time I got it up to Enzo the break-in period was pretty much done, with a little over 750 (easy) miles on the engine.
I noticed that my fuel consumption took a HUGE dip after the tune, I was spitting flames regularly and seeing very rich cruising and partial/off throttle numbers.
I finally took my car back to PFS just a couple weeks ago for a new exhaust (4" SS from DP back) and non-A/I tune in anticipation of having my new HFS-3/Summer installed.
Ray Wilson did a courtesy compression test and was very disappointed by the numbers on his engine. The rear housing PSI was in the lower 70's range, with the front housing in mid 80's. When Ray plugged into my PFC he saw why... My tune was discouragingly sloppy, nothing was dialed in right, fuel curves were uneven and jagged, timing was retarded to the point where the majority of my combustion was occurring in the turbo and exhaust, you name it... I'll be having my engine rebuilt again soon now as a direct result of driving his tune on the street.
Don't get me wrong, Enzo is a REALLY nice guy, and he did express some concern before putting my car on the dyno, but if you're going to be marketed as a tuner than your maps need to display a strong level of skill. When Ray initially tuned my car for the break-in it made about 370whp at 13psi, when heput my car on the dyno with Enzo's map, and my old exhaust, it made 305whp @ 13psi. When Ray installed the new exhaust and retuned it my car made 404whp @ 13.5psi.
Needless to say I'll probably never be taking the drive up to Long Island again.

I meant to post this earlier but since the thread was bumped to the top it reminded me it was long over due.
Just wanted to give a big thanks to Wayne @ Waynespeed, a few weeks ago my wife and I bring 2 cars to Cars And Coffee down at the beach on a Sunday. Its a early event and when I went to leave my car would crank and not start. Suspecting it was a small hose between the fuel pump and the line in the tank I took the car other back home to get some tools and returned to repair this. When I pulled the pump I realized this was not the problem.
I called Wayne because I didnt know what more I could try there in the parkinglot before getting the car towed home. He walked me through some tests, I removed the wolf from its location in my kickpanel and when I cranked the car the wolf had no power going to it ( has a diagnostic light on it ). Turns out my ignition switch was bad. He told me to jack the car up and jump the starter over and sure enough it worked.
So a big thanks to him for not only answering his phone at 9:00 Sunday morning ( he has a wife and family at home ) but for walking me through getting my car running saving me the hassle, money, and embarrassment of towing my car away from a car meet.

In his defense, his fans broke the day before I arrived and he was hesitant to do any tuning as a result (I would have just said go to Home Depot and grab a couple box fans, keep the receipt, and return them once the dyno fans were fixed). My problems arent from it being tuned hot so much as very shoddy fuel maps and crazy timing.
I don't know a whole lot about tuning, which is why I pay other people (good money) to do it for me. After showing the maps to guys over on RCC who *do* know how to tune it became very apparent where the problem was though.
Unless there was some way that my PFC corrupted his maps over a three month period I'm really not sure why else my car is in it's current condition.
I'm not a part of anybodys fan club, I'm sure you can find posts where I've expressed discontent with PFS as well, so please don't take it as biased like that.
I just know that in July I had a brand new, strong, engine with a brand new turbo kit, new injectors, plugs primary coil, etc., etc., and now I've got an engine that needs another rebuild, and a turbo kit with peeling ceramic coating. I know that my previous tune was way to rich (I saw it on my WBO2 and in the amount of flames that got burped out of my exhaust).
My thought is that perhaps Enzo tuned for just track/drag applications, where I would be full throttle/full boost as often as possible, and not for puttzing around town on a regular mundane/daily basis.

Unless you asked for that, I doubt it. My tune was extremely streetable. My tune gave me more power and was easier to drive. I've heard the same from 3 other cars that are at your level and higher. I would ask Enzo what happened this doesn't sound right at all.
