Thumbs up NJ/NY/PA - Rotary Vs V8 RX7 friendly competition

I think that a lot of us are tired of the childish crap that has been going on between some of the less mature rx7 owners (v8 and rotary alike). Since there are a lot of us in the NJ region that have pretty well sorted out cars, I think we can possibly turn this into a nice little competition and stop some of the stupidity that is going on.

I personally have never had any problems with rotary owners and I know a lot of you can say the same with the V8 guys. I want to do this as a friendly competition that is more to bring us closer together than to prove who is “better”. Since we are all working adults, I know that it will be next to impossible to get everyone together for a single event. That is why I think we should leave it as a year long open invitation for both sides to get together at any event being held in the area. Some of us (me especially) are on tight budgets so we can do some auto-x events and such while others have more money and can do track days. This way we can get to know everyone better and have some fun.

The only stipulation I have to this is that the childish e-thugging and bench racing needs to end. Some people love rotaries, some people love V8’s. It is their own car and their own decisions but end the end we all love cars.

So, what I would like to do is have anyone who is interested post up on here and say what you would be interested in doing (ie drag, autox, track etc) and we will post up event dates in the tri-state area. After that, we try to get people together and have some fun.

- if you are in this to prove something and show others up then go somewhere else
- if you want to have some fun and meet new people then you are always welcome

I will help out as much as possible but I want everyone to chip in some of their time to keep this updated.

Thanks!!!

don't worry this isn't a single thing but rather events all year.

You are more than welcome to come up or post events in your area.

Let me stress it again. This is going to be good natured. Nobody wants to have to deal with jerks on either side.

Yeap leave that ignorance at home we don't need beef. =)

If you guys want to go for a drive @ Bear Mnt's windy roads it will be open in a couple months for the public again. (Gets closed for winter due to so many people crashing and driving off the cliff)

Here is something I'v been working on with the help of few friends.

Man, I so want to run, but I think I need to take off this year to come up with a competitive STS2 car for SCCA, then I'll think about coming back.

I may just hop in a friend's car and run when they run though, I'll bring a couple turbo rotaries to the table.

Like I said, this isnt an end all be all competition. I am really just trying to get rotary and piston guys together at these events. Come out for an auto-x or test and tune with MSNE sometime. I can tell you right now that my car is in no way fully competitive this year. I still need new race wheels and tires so I will be on some weak rubber and since I just got my car done I am still sorting things out.

As far as HPDE, I have a long way to go. I am still HPDE 1 novice sad to say.

I ran with MSNE all of last year, I think Scott tried to convert me with a ride in his blue FD. A fun ride, it was.

I ran with my STS2 somewhat prepped GTUS last year, did alright, but the GTUs needs further prepping to be competitive.

All the instructors (Don, Ed, Michelle, Bob and Rob) all told me to get a better car.
