NH NH:looking to have my fd's motor ported and coolant seals replaced!

5 months ago i picked up a 94 twinturbo touring editon rx7 from a local that barely drove it. the motor has 55k miles on it and well the coolant seal blew. when i crank it over with the radiator cap off it blows coolant up from the filler.. anywyas i would like to have the coolant seals replaced along with the others. i was looking at atkins rotary gasket sets, and i figured while replacing the seals i may as wel get a good street port done..

well im looking for a either someone who is interested in doing this that has had past experience in porting and who is pretty good. or a shop within nh/me/mass that is good with porting etc.

let me know your price, or what kind of price im looking at to have a shop do it...

Thank you,
Pat

If you want to keep it local, give Synaptic3 a call. They are located in Candia, NH and there phone number is (603)244-4631. I haven't heard anything about their motor builds, but I know they can build and port rotary engines.

As for personal experience, I would highly recommend KDR Rotary in New Triploi, Pa. There number is (610)298-1946. Dave has decades of experience and could definitely help you, but is not conveniently close.

Good luck!

wow! only 620 horsepower at the wheels?! i am surprised he even made it down the drag strip.

where are you going with your point? the numbers whatshisface made are great but irrelevant. he never mentioned anything about how much power he could make using twin turbos and stock ports. while the motor is apart it just makes sense to have it ported.

If your looking for a local shop to do it. I'd also say Synaptic3. You can check out there website www.synaptic3.com I've never had any work done there ,but I've only heard good things about them. You may be looking at around 3-4 thousand with a rebuild/ported 13b-rew installed. Definitely give them a call if you want the job done right. but I also know another shop in Randolph Mass called Luu Automotive. www.luuautomotive.com I know Ben and Scott very well down there, and have seen some of the work they have done. Really clean shop and very knowledgable guys. They may have a better price than Synaptic3. I'd check Luu Auto first. Hope this helps.

out of curiosity, who are you talking about?

they are great guys and very passionate about motorsports. they do seem to take great pride in their work, so like Vosko said, you will be in good hands.

they have a real nice shop too, LOTS of cars there, when i was there last they had a beautiful 13B on the stand, streetport and so on.

i would trust them for tuning, not to mention they're pretty widely respected in the motorsport community.

Bring us the shortblock, you're look at $1200 labor for a medium port and build, plus parts. Parts ranges from $300 up to $1200, depending on the condition of your bearings, seals, and springs.

More info here:

http://irperformance.com/?page_id=20

We're in central NJ and backed up as always, but a straight forward build like this could be turned around in a decent time frame.

PM me if you have questions etc.

They dont do rebuilds iirc. at least last time i was there thats what they told me. They bought engines from someoen else and just did the installs. (i forgot the name, but it was reputable if that makes any sense)
