Exclamation My state is actually getting rid of emissions!!

Well this is some great news for all of us rotor heads that live here in mass. Ive been told at my shop by people that have recenlty gone to sticker class that come 2008 they will be getting rid of dynos and going strickly to 2 speed idle tests and the new OBD 3 systems. So basically if you have an FC like me with no emissions it will be a hell of a lot easier to pass compared to right now (full dyno emissions testing). I just think this is great news for us becuase if a state like mass is getting rid of there dyno testing its going to be a trend that most states will follow.

Happy rotoring freinds

Colorado got rid of emissions on everything but diesal (sp?) from the beginnig of this year. So we now don't need to get our cars tested at all to drive them.

On the other hand, the People's RepubliK of Killafornia is trying to pass a law to get all cars over 15 years old to do annual emissions testing instead of semiannual.

semiannual you would be every 6 months, don't you mean bi-annual, which is every 2 years?

yeah we got rid of emissions testing in NC for non OBD-II but there is still a visual inspection... good thing the sketchy gas stations don't know or don't care about rotaries

Yeah thats what i thought mass was gonna do but according to the consensus the amount of old beat up cars with no emissions is nominal compared to the newer cars on the road with working emissions systems. See around here cars dont usually last more than 10-15 years max due to the harsh winter that eat away the cars with rust.

Really?
I just tagged my car at the end of January and was required to test.

The Envirotest by me appears to be doing a fair amount of testing as well.

that just means theyre not going to be emissions testing the new cars, just cause theyre updating how they test new cars doesnt mean old cars will now be exempt.

jersey does that now, most newer cars just have the obdII plugged in, checked for codes and make sure it hasnt been cleared 15 minutes earlier and then you go through. i think 99 and older they do the full test on.

kevin.
