Mid-Atlantic autoX at VIR Sat Feb 18!
NASA's Mid-Atlantic '06 Autocross Championship begins with a time trial/autocross for double points on the 1.1 mile "Patriot Course" at Virginia International Raceway outside Danville, VA on Saturday February 18, 2005.
This event only has ~60 slots open and you can sign up for a single heat (6-8 timed/scored runs) plus an optional additional heat (6-8 timed fun runs.) There will be NO WORK ASSIGNMENTS (NASA is hiring pro cornerworkers/cone ******** for this event.) Entry fees start at $50 and go up... the longer you wait to sign up.
When you're not autocrossing, you can watch US DRIFT on the Patriot Course as well as a traditional NASA HPDE (driver's ed) and NASA sprint/enduro roadracing on the 3.3 mile full course. Touring laps behind a pace car on the big track will be available during our autocross lunch break for only $10 per car.
Details, pre-registration, Patriot Course maps, videos, and soforth are here:

We hope to see some RX-7's in action! ;-)
Thanks and happy holidays,
Jon

Great place to post this Jon, I am sure it will get some interest from here. I will be registering some time next week (this time of year things need to be scheduled around paydays). I will post a pointer to this in the Hampton Roads thread.

Thanks Calvin! I hadn't been here in a while (it's been a few years since I owned an RX-7) but it still looks like a great bunch of folks and hopefully everyone will want to come play at VIR.
I understand completely about the finance issue around the holidays... that's why we put the event info out as early as possible, so people could budget for it.
Anyway, thanks again and see you in Feb! ;-)

God damn Jon I'm seeing this all over the place now.
I've got windsheild in the FC replaced so thats not an issue anymore (killed me from running in the last VMSC event)
I have a set of Hoosiers AS04's, are they going to be good for this or are the too soft?

Hahaha yep when we spread the word, we do it right. ;-)
Hoosiers would be fine for this. The pavement temp will keep them from getting too hot. But bring street tires also just in case of rain or whatever.
Thanks and PLEASE be there... it'll be unlike anything you've ever done with VMSC, I can promise you that. ;-)

I'll go pre-register n' stuff.
Who know's I may be running a Megasquirt setup by then too.
I'll have to take a weekend next month in the parents garage and tighten eveything up.

Sweet, I'm glad you'll be there Dave ;-)
Give the car a thorough pre-tech while you're in there:

No internet at home? I'd rather have no heat, lol...
(What you don't know is that I have scorching fast internet at home, but no heat at the moment.)
Anyway- sorry you're having to jump thru all these hoops, but I PROMISE YOU that you'll have a blast at VIR in Feb! ;-)

Thanks for working. Flagging, I hope? Best seat in the house! I'll be on the big track Fri & Sun in the instructor groups, probably in a green '98 M3, so feel free to give me the blue flag for no reason. ;-)

I've been thinking about going to this one, but if I do it'll probably be in my VR4 which is pretty well setup. There's still a lot of stuff I need to address on the FD before I'm comfortable making a long trip or autoxing it.

Update: we are adding a 5th heat for the waiting list plus a few more. Registration has re-opened and there are only 3 guaranteed spots left, if anyone's interested.
Thanks!

Thread back from the dead... this event is a go for Sun Feb 25, 2007 and will be very similar to all three times we did it in '06. Info & pre-reg are linked from our series page:
