Rick, do you know if SCCA/Lime Rock would allow me to get racing seats and harnesses and wrap them around my rear strut tower bar?

Is that legal or do I need a roll cage?

Wrapping harnesses around a strut tower bar is not safe. They need to be mounted to the chassis. Who are you doing the event with?

i am really not too sure. im sure you would get away with it. is it the safest option? probably not. you need the same or more safety level for the passenger seat for the instructor as you would have for the driverside.

different sanctions have different safety equipment. you should look into SCCA's guidelines.

Can I bolt them down using eye sockets in the threaded holes where the rear seatbelts went?

I'm just sick of my ripped up stock seats and want to buy some racing seats/harnesses for christmas :P

IDK probably bmw or porsche club. Just looking to get into autox at devens and I don't want to do anything I have to undo.

that would be a good option as long as the angle is safe. i dont know what that angle is and ive heard many arguments about one angle being correct and the other being incorrect. however, if Mazda thought it was a safe anchor for the stock seatbelts, i cant see it being a bad option for harnesses.

for autocrossing they aren't as strict with the safety requirements as they are with track days. as long as everything is in working order and not ready to fall off you should be able to run with most clubs.

FIA approval is good to look for in your harnesses and seats, as some clubs that do track days require it. plus you will have the benefit of knowing that your product has actually been tested for your safety.

First I got really sick. Then I was at my buddy ryans house in by near newfound lake.
Crazey dirt roads . I was The dd for him and two girls one night. They ask me to get more booze , one of my buddy up there gave me his keys to his Sti to drive cause we talked cars all night. I was doing only 25 up hill on a long slow bend. Well a moose came out. I was in the middle of the road. Turned to miss it cliped a bolder with the front right wheel. Rolled the car counter clock wise, slid off road And rolled the car clock wise don't know how many times. If it didnt have a cage I don't know what would happen. I hit my head on the bar and was in mass genale for a week but I don't rembrr 4 days. I would of been fucked if that kid wasn't behind me in my car.

I bseen working my *** off and iam probly selling my car ands getting a rx8 for a daily LOL. I don't want to Drive a focus LOL . I've done so much work on the sa . I'll miss it but if I sell it I'll only sell it to rx guy. If I can get the 8 and keep the 7 iam gutting it and making it a rally race car. Full gage with tube front end.

Ben I'm glad to hear that you are okay.

You wont have as much fun as you did with your 7. The 8 is more of a practical sports car than an outright sports car like the 7 series. It's still not a bad buy though, not to mention the steal price you will be getting it for.

So is the kid pissed you killed his STi?

You'll fully enjoy the RX8. Don't let the haters tell you otherwise.
