So, how did the event go for you guys? I wish I was there instead of here. Back to MA tomorrow morning and really looking forward to the 10th and 11th. By the way, there is a HPDE (high speed driving event) tomorrow at NHIS. It might be sponsored by NER SCCA, not sure. Check it out! :-)

hey guys. the event went well. unfortunatly christian couldnt race so i jokingly asked if he would want me to race his car for him and to my surprise he said yes. i raced his rx-7 in sm2. it felt really great but my time's didnt reflect it. i had enough time to walk the course and i knew it in my head. my times were 87 88 and 87, which was 27 seconds off the leader in SM2 i believe, which is horrible, but i had a really great time. You guys really wont have to worry about me as competition any time soon i took a ride with KC and he taught me some things whch definatly helped out a lot. im sorry you guys couldnt come this weekend but ill see you on the 10th and 11th. i am getting the registration fixed so i will have my FD.
thank you so much christian for letting me race your car. i really appreciate it, and i am sorry you didnt get to race. try to get in the 10-11th event, if its possible, if not the 18th will definatly be possible for you to just show up and race.
thanks imp for the help.
take care gentlemen.

Hey Rick, that's great! Christian, you're the man, letting Rick race your car is such an unbelievable gesture. How come you could not race yourself? Oh well, you'll race soon and Rick will let you run his car. I think that there is a waiting list now for the 10th/11th so I don't know what the chance is of you (Christian) getting in. One can only pray. Isn't KC just the greatest (although I am still waiting for my magnet material)! Hey, who cares about being beat by the Miata's and that weird Starlet monster. We'll just have our own SM2 sub-group and we'll have fun pushing each other to faster and faster times (still 20 seconds slower than the class winner but who cares). It's all good!

christian is definatly the man for sure. id never let someone drive my car, yet alone race it, especially in the condition my car is now. id find a car to follow behind to make sure nothing goes wrong, but thats just me. either way. a very kind gesture that i truly appreciate. like i said i had a lot of fun. i am still getting myself ready for the 10th and 11th mentally and physically. hopefully (crosses fringers, small prayer) my suspension will be completely in and dialed in by the event. i just ordered some rims (Sport Edition D3 16X7 18lbs) and some Toyo RA-1 Tires so i can at least keep up with everyone in the SM2 Class a little bit better. i am definatly haveing a lot of fun racing and that's all that matters to me, right now. i hope to one day be competitive and maybe even lead the pack, but for now, once it's not fun anymore, that's when im gonna hang my helmet. needless to say, i dont see that anytime soon.
side question.....does anyone shave their tires and does anyone know of anywhere to have tires shaved in the central massachusetts area? i am looking into shaving my RA-1 4/32 and i am not sure where i can get this done so any help would help.
just to recap, Christian is the man and i cant wait to see you guys at the next event!

i went to town fair tire and they couldnt get the Toyo RA-1's in time for the 10th and 11th national tour. So i traded in 2 RA-1's for Kumho Escta Supra 710's. they should be here within the week so i should be all set for the tour.
slo motorsports: i was wondering if you guys could help me out at the tour with helping me jack up my car and throwing my rims and tires on. i will buy you guys lunch. i would greatly appreciate, as i dont have tools or a big enough car to bring them in. please let me know.
Rick

You MAY want to check what you ordered to make sure you didn't order something you didn't want...

Kumho doesn't make a 'Ecsta Supra 710'.

They make an Ecsta Supra 712 (marginal street tire) or the Ecsta V710 (R-Compound).

So... what did you order? If you were worried about getting tires in time... order from http://www.tirerack.com Not only do they have a great selection and reviews, but also pretty decent pricing. They can get your tires to you in 1-3 days.

i did get the V710 R Compound. i had them mixed up with my Escta Supra 712 street tires. i traded in a pair of brand new RA-1's at Town fair tire, cause they couldnt get me 2 new RA-1's to finish the set. i ordered my rims from tirerack and they will be here on thursday so i just need to get them balanced. i saw on the NASIOC board you said we can leave our cars at the track on friday and saturday night. i figured ill show up friday night, walk the course, draw it out, re-walk the course, throw the tires on, throw a cover on and get some rest for the weekend. think we'll get more then 3 runs/day? how long do nationals usually take? i love auto-xing but the time spent racing is marginal compared to the time working or waiting. like 5 minutes to 4 hours. but that's ok. did you get my message on the SCCA Solo Cone Logo and Kumho magnets?

KC has Kumho magnets?

Rick, you got 16x7 rims? We went 16x8. Anyway, we will help you out at the track any way that we can. We'll have a floor jack in the trailer. Just make sure that you have the right lug nut tools with you. We're also thinking of trying to get the AE through Tech on Friday night and leaving it there in the trailer. Hey, maybe we'll leave the Navigator too (and bring out the Supra as the ride home vehicle). Too bad you didn't get everything from Tire Rack as KC suggested. Quick turn around, complete with mount and balance free of charge.

alright, thanks a lot. i appreciate it. i could only find 16s in a 16x7 that matched what i needed and how much i wanted to spend. i ended up spending only $38X on the rims from tirerack and $82X on the V710's from town fair tire, so i really did have much money to work with. if i had the extra fundings i woulve gotten the wedsports like yours, but my rims are 18lbs which is pretty good. for price/need ratio, id say the sport editions should be pretty good. hopefully by the end of the summer, the TE37 fairy will make a trip to my wheelwell in the form of 17x9s and 17x10s while im sleepin and i can use the 710's on the factories. have you guys raced on the 710s yet? im anxious to see how they feel. im planning on leaving my car on friday night as well and just covering it, and i love the idea of bringin the MKIV. if theres anything i can do to help you guys, let me know. ill pm you with my number.

I do not have Kumho magnets. I had a couple extra Kumho decals (from the contingency program) that I was going to bring and I'm going to be bringing some flexible magnet with me Friday/Saturday to sell. (Last year I had my vinyl cutter in a trailer doing decals).

(I can make some Kumho decals tho, if you want a particular color).

i figured ill show up friday night, walk the course, draw it out, re-walk the course, throw the tires on, throw a cover on and get some rest for the weekend.
And get teched & register too. You WANT to be there Friday if at all possible because Saturday is moved up about an hour. We'll probably have 1st car off at 9AM. Not only that, it allows you to get a spot... as 250 cars will be there.

think we'll get more then 3 runs/day?
No. Tours are only 3 runs each day.

how long do nationals usually take?
All day. The run order will be posted today on the SCCA site. It'll say which heat you work, which heat you run. After you've done both, your day is done.

$83 for Kumho Ecsta V710's. That doesn't sound right unless we got ripped off from Tire Rack. Ours were more like $178. KC, what do you think? Rick, you may want to double check what you are getting.

We have only tested (driving crazily around an open parking lot) them and have not raced on them. They make a big difference. They are also so soft/sticky that they pick up everything in the road that isn't nailed down.

KC - I'm still looking for the magnetic sheet. I'll email you at Rallydecals.com.

and $82X on the V710's from town fair tire
$82X = $820+ which is about $205 a tire... which would include tire mounting/balancing I would think.

kc you are good! i paid 179 per tire plus computer balancing and valve stems. they gave me $150 for 2 RA-1's, i know what youre thinking, i got ripped off. but i bought them 3 years ago for $200 for both so i paid $50 to have them sit in my storage unit.

goofy, im not gonna make the meet on june 4th. i am sorry we all havent gotten together lately, ive been busy trying to get my car out of the garage. i definatly want to set up another F1 or RA meet.

finally heard from my mechanic. the suspensions all in, i just need to stiffen it up over the week. the downpipe and midpipe are getting started tomorrow, and the car should come home thursday for detailing and some vinyl. the tires are mounted and balanced, and weigh a hefty 41.3lbs each. good luck to all who are prepping for the nationals event. pray for good weather and good fortune.

All sounds good Rick. Like a true racer, right down to the wire. We haven't spent much time with the AE, but we'll have to over the next several days so she doesn't feel neglected. KC just sent us a boat load of magnetic sheet so we are going to be busy getting all of our decals "magnetized". One fear is that the weather will work against us. We really want to run the Kumho's and not rain tires. Right now it looks like it could be a fantastic weekend! We can only pray. What time are you planning on showing up on Friday? We should try to get spots next to each other. That way, it will be easier to help each other.

Hey KC, do you want to set up shop in our trailer?

Hey Rick, I just checked the web site and the entry count is down to 248. I take that to mean that 2 spots have opened up. Call Christian and tell him to get off of his butt!

KC, offer is still open to use our 20' featherlite as "Rallydecals" headquarters.

That's really generous of you, but after sitting all last year doing decals and not enjoying the tour, I'm going to decline. I like the aspect of just hanging out and not working the whole weekend.

That is bad news Christian. I hope it's not because of Rick having his way with your car. We'll look forward to seeing you on the 18th. Actually, I know why you want the S5.....to not have to compete in SM2! :-)

KC - I only made the offer because you said that you were going to be selling magnetic sheet and I thought that you might need the space, so no problem.

The only reason i am selling other than to not be in SM2 () is because i can get a t2 for alot cheaper than my fd and i will be able to put more into it. i also want to go back to somthing a little simpler if i am to be racing it. i had an fc before my fd and to of my friends have t2's, so i am acctually more familiar with them than my fd. although, i definitly know my way around an fd. but anyway, i can't wait to see you on the 18th either.

If you mod it enough you might be right back with us in SM2. We could use the company. I was telling Rick that the Miata's are going to kick our butts so we might as well have our own little rivalry at the bottom of SM2. That is unless we make NER enforce the fact that the roll bar on an open car cannot be below the top of the drivers helmet. At least for one event, we would rule!

Can I hold you to it? Saturday looks like rain so I guess the Kumho's will have to come off. Should I wait until the last minute or get the rains on for Friday night tech? Also, since we're in SM2, can we freely substitute tires without having to have all of our tires tech'd? Sunday looks like a Kumho day for sure (Oh, maybe not "for sure", considering NE weather).
