just search for "street rod" or "historic". the first thing in the search result is the qualification information. it seems like they need to update the site. also, they have kind of mileage restriction for the street rod, as well as for the historic car. They are not for general public transportation purpose, period.
so, I wonder if polic cares about a heavy mod rx7 with historic tag? cuz historic car shouldn't be mod at all, according to the site.

i think that unless the car is completely stock, you would be better off getting street rod tags.
as for the mileage, this is straight from the application:
I/We, certify that the vehicle will be maintained for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, occasional transportation and
similar uses. I/We further certify that this vehicle will not be used for general daily transportation or primarily for the transportation of
passengers or property on highways.
the mva expects your daily driver to be a normally registered, non-historic car/street rod.

I'm not sure on the mods, I think they're talking about mods that change the body of the car or make it look significantly different. In which case you have to get hot-rod tags.

my co-worker told me that he has heard people got pulled off for driving a car with historic tag. they were asked for the destination of the trip to drive the car, etc.
if that is true, it can be kind of trouble(unpleasant) to be pulled over by a cop just for that once a while.
I think if the car is old enough, MVA will waive the emission anyway, right? then you can drive the car as much as you want, then no worried about been pulled over.

Ok do Maryland ever waive anything when it comes to the all mighty dollar? I have an old Ford full size truck that I drive around as a daily for the last 2 years with Historic plates on it. No problems up here in good ole Harford county yet. Bottom line if you are scared then say you are scared and just do not put them on your daily driver.
that is what I was told. I just want to find out if any downside of doing that. I have been waiting to get the emission waived on my SE, so I can put in some straight pipe.
again, what is limit to modify a historic car? you know, there are some crazy hardworking cops there waiting to pull you over for anything. I got pulled cover long time ago for one of the taillight bulbs was out. another time was for no front tag. damn.
not scared, just don't want to see their ugly faces or my face turn ugly.

To deal with the possibility of getting pulled over while driving on my historic plates, I have a mental list of Mazda dealers and auto shops in the Baltimore area. If asked, I am en route to or on my way home from <fill in the blank>.
So far, I haven't been stopped, but given the rabid Maryland traffic LE, it's only a matter of time.

All that and your disappearing front license plate, eh? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, you old scofflaw! I'll invite you over when we get electricity down to the shop...

The disappearing plate that you saw is on the RXX-7, however I have a similar device designed by Mariah Motorsports to fit on their Mode One nose, which is what I have on the ResurreXion-7. I haven't installed it, yet, but that's on my to-do list for the near future.
This is good to hear considering my FB is still taged in NC and I got pulled over a little while ago and the cop was wondering why the 'ef I had a MD license NC tags and three different address for my car my license and my insurance. I guess now I don't have to worry about tagging the ol' girl here.

I now have both my 1985 Jeep and my 1993 RX7 on the road without passing emissions.
Hahah Thats one good thing about St. Marys.
