the problems ive had with mine are issues with any gas engine.
LACK OF OIL KILLS THEM.
first time was cuz oil drain plug for turbo came out (didnt even know i had one). second time was exhaust manifold ripped its steel bolts out of the aluminum head because it wasnt helicoiled. exhaust then cooked the head causing enough pressure to force the oil out of the small leak spots i already had (cracked drain hose) and again starving the engine.
if i was gonna go 1jz, i would just go all out and run a full 2jz setup or at least a 1.5jz (1jz head on 2jz block, to maintain the 3.0L instead of the 2.5L of stock 1jz)
and i thought you were referencing the 2.0L 1g-gte (turbocharged) or 1g-gze (supercharged)engines which only make 210HP and 168HP respectively (compared to the 200HP for a stock N/A 7M-GE). MKIII supras had option of the 1g-gte engine in japan models.

276HP for a 5.0L v-12 is kinda MEH. the more affordable toyota 4.3L 3UZ V-8 engine from the lexus 430 series cars puts out more power than that (290HP). Toyota uses the 3UZ in their SuperGT race cars (Including the SuperGT Supra)

we both know that nothing rated at 276 hp from japan really puts out that much power. that is just the Japanese mandated peak hp. they rate the 2JZ at 276 hp over there as well. same with the RB26.

the car doesnt have the insanely high HP you think it does. prob only 300-320 HP, it just has much higher torque rating. the engine was designed for a limo class car after all so its set up for economy mileage, as designated by the FE. if it was 1GZ-GE, then it would prob be closer to a 350-400 HP engine.
and due to engine size, would be really hard to get it with forced induction to fit in a supra engine bay which would mean that it would still be better to go with either stock 7m upgraded (like im getting), or a jz series engine.
hell a chevy 350 with forced induction would prob sit better in the engine bay than the GZ
the equivalent 5.6L BMW M73 engine from the 8-series which was a dual I-6/V-12 engine only made 326 HP

I'm not sure how it would fit in a mkIII but it's been fit in a mkIV with twin turbos.
350s are relitively small, it's not saying much.
I was mostly just adding it as a joke, I wasn't really serious. it would cost a lot of money to biuld one of those because there isn't really an aftermarket for them.

yeah. japanese only car. but as for power, i could make equivalent power from a 2jZ and that i KNOW fits in my car.
going back to original statements.......
the 7M was THE japanese engine to have for power until the skyline R32 came out. now its a draw between the skyline engine and the 2JZ. both of them are notorious for taking 800+ HP without touching the bottom end. the 7M is more like 650hp at most for stock internals with normal rebuild (more of a physical power limitation than stuff breaking). higher HP and you'll need forged rods, better pistons, fully balanced rotating assembly....etc.

for a 1 mm indent I would probably just use a file...
why do you need to put the indent into it?
well at the moment im lacking tools, all i have with me at work is a scissor and im attempting to file it down with that....I have an hour and a half of work left..*files*

I've been missing the meets because I've been spending every weekend since January working on my FC.
I'm getting close to being able to start it. I should have the haltech wiring done this weekend (unless I go down to VA to witness the tuning session). And I have someone local who can do the exhaust modifications.
So I can only speak for myself.. while I've been idle on the forums, I've been busy with the car.

I've been busy harassing people on other boards. People in the lounge here are too uptight, and there's really nobody in this thread that annoys me enough for me to give them a hard time
