my didn't snap, it lost a bunch of teeth... then sort of half way disinigrated. but it didn't snap

RX-7s are even more notorious for never having timing belts snap... the last 400k+

I just put one on my friend's 1994 Corolla. Banged up the crank sprocket trying to get it off too, that ended it for one night... The next morning, went to the dealer to get it. It's good now.

The second timing belt job I've done in my life. The first was on my 1985 Civic.

I've never had fillings done. Is it true that they're made with mercury?

how hard is it to get the crank pully off? that's the only part that seems like it might suck...

If the car has done any water fording past the axles, it may be rusted on. This particular Corolla was involved in Hurricane Katrina cleanup operations.

Some PB-Blaster and a pulley puller will work well.

Put grease on it when you put it back on.

An impact wrench is the ONLY way to pull the crank bolt on an automatic tranny car.

And I found that a 2 gallon 1.5HP Craftsman compressor actually works pretty well with my impact wrench.

pele: depends on the car. the supra crank pulley is put on with 195 ft-lbs of force, and if its weathered, it gets a little rustlock requiring more like 250-300 ft-lbs to break it loose. took me a breaker bar and about 6 feet of extensions to pop the rustlock on mine.

S2000 engine is also a chain.

No amount of breaker bars would loosten this bolt. The engine would keep turning.

Besides, my impact is capable of more than 300 ft/lbs.

PB-Blaster > RustLock

Like I said, this Corolla was under water. I had to use several breaker bars to get the wheel lugs off, then a sledge to get the wheel off of the hub.

Obviously your local store doesn't have their standards as high as the corporation does. When made properly with ingredients prepared correctly, it's actually quite tasty. Besides, how would you know what slimy crap tastes like?

yer supposed to block the engine, usually have it in park with the e-brake on or remove oilpan and put a block of wood to stop crank.
