But yeah, if you're able to fully tune the stock PCM without switching to a full standalone, then I'd say stay with the stocker... but if there are limitations you can't get around or anything like that, then go with the MS or any other full standalone for that matter (MS will be significantly cheaper though).

Here's the HPTuners page if you want to dig into what it does. I haven't gotten the latest update since I bought the software last year but they're included, I just have to contact them and get a new disk in the mail, I believe. You can d/l the manual from that page if you're curious to see how the software compares.

ahh ok, some of the 4 cylinder GM engines with COP can be used just like an HEI module... I knew you didn't have a distributor, I was just saying that some of GM's ignition modules look just like HEI modules to the PCM/ECU.
This isn't one of them it appears though.

Hey, no knocking oil coolers
They are great for increasing the life and effectiveness of your engine oil, especially for towing engines.
Also you can just cut and crimp the lines and add a better inline oil filtration system (what I'm doing on the vanagon)

I got my van running MegaSquirt now. It's running amazingly on RPM based fuel enrichment, but whenever I go to use MAP based enrichment so that I can save on gas, it bogs out and doesn't accel at all. Any thoughts? (I think I fried my wideband O2 sensor, so I'll be picking up another one of those -- fscking backfires)

here are some piccies of the megasquirt location
Full view of megasquirt mounting location and engine compartment.
A closer look at how I mounted the MS unit.
The MAP location. (this hasn't been finalized yet since i'm currently looking into TPS solutions)

On the 'vert:
My intake is held in place by zips
my bumper is held on by zips
Wiring harness held in place by zips . . .
On the TII:
The reverse light switch electrical assembly is held in by zipties
The the split air pipe is held in by zipties
the throttle cable is held in place by zipties . . . .
My zipties are held in by more zipties . . .

I use the military zipties (~3ft long) to hold my exhaust in place. Works great and looks good too.
I also use them to hold my Master Brake cylinder in place and keep it from leaking.
