I'm a bit late getting around to asking, but here goes...

My mother recently paid a guy a significant amount of money to remodel her kitchen and install a fence around her yard. Everything was going just fine for a while, but then the guy started to not show up as often and got really lazy with his work.

My mother finally ended up saying enough was enough and asked for her money back for the job he wasn't doing. He ended up writing a check to her in return, but she later found out that it bounced. Since then, all of the phone numbers he gave her ended up being "unavailable" and the guy pretty much split.

Now then, here's where my request comes into play.... I want to know who here is able to look up information on:

VA licence plates
Supposed address and name
Supposed web address and e-mail
Supposed partner's name and phone number (guy ranted about other guys work like they were buddies, but when the check bounced claimed that he only referred him)

I want to gain as much info on the guy as possible so that I can form a plan of action against him if he doesn't return what's owed, either in work or pay.... I'll PM anyone who's able the info I have on this so far...

Report it to the B.B.B. (better business bereau) They will make a claim against him. If he doesn't finish the work, the B.B.B. will finish it for "free". Not many people know about this, but its true. Im in the contracting field, myself.

 

mabye you guys can help me out too. if i have the address of a property previously owned by a person, how can i get thier full name and current contact info? i only know the person's first name

was this all under the table and such? if not you should have some type of contract and business info on him, especially if he is a licensed worker of any type.

if there is, then it sounds like more than a bbb thing. this guy stole your mom's money. time to consult with an attorney and maybe file charges.

I honestly don't know... I'll have to speak with my mother about it and ask how the deal was made.... But since no contract of work was given to me along with his info, i'd have to say it was probably under the table....

She paid cash, and as for the business license, i'm not sure... I'm betting no, seeing how this guy only has a geocities web address for his "business".....
