Wondering if there are any local RX-7 (Rotary) get togethers on Long Island in Suffolk? I know there is one in Queens but it is usually on a Thursday night.

I work in NYC and to get home @ 7:30 - Eat / Get Dressed and then drive out there for 40 minutes is a hike and a half.

When it gets warmer... who would be interested in something near the Expressway or Sunrise Hwy in Suffolk County near a TGIF or bigger parking lot on a FRIDAY or SATURDAY night - I see a lot of FC's around and a few FD's with RX8 sprinkled in around suffolk so I imagine there would have to be an interest.

I'm thinking first or second week of April to pick a spot and a date & time.

Any interest? Or is something already established?

 

Where are you on Long Island. I know couple of people they are not ready to come out yet.

Im in eastern suffolk near William Floyd Parkway, not close to queens by any means so i never go out to those meets. If you get something going in suffolk then im down for sure! I'll even try to get both fc's out for more support. I NEVER see any rx7s driving around because all of you are doing turbo thangs and what not. I been rockin the reliable n.a DD forever!

piggy back it with another established meet, seeing the same 4 guys in a parking lot gets kinda dull

 

There is a meet in Oakdale on Thursdays in the Wendy's parking lot that gets about 60 cars ranging from 1940 Merc - to a 2012 GT-40 in cars - GM / Ford / etc and i saw a nice silver FD there but the owner wasnt around when I drove through - there is also a nice yellow FD with a big metal spoiler in someones driveway on theway back to sunrise as I took a back road.

But again... its on a Thursday night and I don't know if that is good for some. WHEN IT GETS WARMER - Does a Thursday work? Do you know where Oakdale is (South shore Long Island) exit 47 off of Sunrise Hwy.

^ Agreed. I too would be up for an established meet that is a bit further east out on long island. I hate driving my car in the city.

those are super early meets, nice crowded with different cars- but early Sunday morning

 

^ Yea, if you are not there by 7:30 am or even earlier sometimes there is no where to park. I have a lot of trouble convincing myself to wake up early to go there on what is almost always my only day off.

 

me and the wife go, its a nice drive by the beach- used to be nicer before everyone ruined it.
grab a cup of coffee there, walk around chat a little with friends and then hit up a diner for breakfast. You still have the whole day to do anything you want. On a nice day though if you are not there by 730 youre either in the far end of the lot or not being let in when its super crowded

my wife actually likes it so much once in a while we will bring 2 cars there

 

Maybe I'll come out when I put my RX's back together. I think I'm done hibernating.

 

I live out in queens but don't mind taking a drive for a nice meet and new faces.

 

There are a bunch of meets that happen on long island in the summer. As someone already mentioned it would be a good idea to piggy back off an event. You can always meet up at a spot and then cruise together to an already established meet. I’ll be down to meet up.

Tuesday, Bald Hill at 5pm - 8pm
Thursday, Bellmore Train Station at 9pm
Thursday, Glen Cove High End Cars 5pm - 10pm
Friday, Dave and Busters in Farmingdale at 10pm - 2pm
Saturday, Dave and Busters in Farmingdale at 10pm - 2pm
Sunday, Oak Beach off Ocean Parkway at 8am

Thursday are primarily imports.

 

bellmore is a friday thing dave and buster is a zoo to many little kids oak beach is a good time

 

Just went to oak beach, definitely a good time.

 

Well we are almost there.. Spring is this week and hopefully the last snow of the year.

Thursdays in queens are ok, i would trade weekly thursdays for 1 big rotary meet per month

^ Truth. Hence the reason I have stopped going for probably over half a year.

A good spot for you guys out in Suffolk and Nassau is the lot next to Sonics in Deer Park right off the SS Pkwy. Quite and somewhat spacious. Plus you guys can grab some munchies from Sonics if need be. I occasionally meet up with friends there for a bite and it seems like a good environment.
