I HATE snow...my new years eve trip.

ALNY93 invited me along with Cripsr6 over to his place for new years. As we all know, it snowed that day and it was generally a pretty crappy night. I looked out the window and saw the streets were pretty clean so i decided to go ahead and go. Within minutes of jumping on the Bronx river pkwy, right at the spot where it ends and the taconic begins i hit my first drift session. HOLLY ****, for some reason the town did not plow that section of the pkwy and as much as I wanted to slow down before i hit the snow, it just wasnt possible. So i hit the snow going about 50( i was cruising at 70) and i go sideways. Well, being the ******* that i am and thinking I can drive i react to it and counter steer the skid one way, the other and managed to do that a few times and slow down enough to get the car under control. COOL!!! dodged that one.
Well, that should have been enough to make me turn around and head back home. But nope, i was on my way already so pucker up and lets keep going. I'm doing about 30 and damned do these Azenis ST615 suck in the snow. It took over 200 feet to stop at the red light. ABS pumping the pedal hard but very little breaking. ****, how the hell do I get the car going now that i'm completely stopped??? To make matters worse, its a slight hill and left turn. Amazingly enough, I managed to spin my way up the damned hill sideways(im pretty sure it must have looked really cool, wish i had gotten it on video!). Once over the hill the pkwy was plowed and i got back up to speed...
So at this point i'm trying to make up time and since the roads were snow/ice free i'm cooking it at a modest 80.
Guess what happens next???
Road gets a bit slick so I slow down to 60. I guess there was a little precipitation, not sure what but i'm gonna go with freezing rain or sleet. I slow down to 50, to be "safe", right. I spot a car up ahead on my lane(right lane on a 2 lane pkwy). I switch to the left lane. Just as i'm about i'd 50 feet away, this jackass decides to change onto my lane. So I slam on the brakes. He goes back to the right lane. And here we go again, drift even number 3!!!! This time, sliding around with the cute choice of slamming into the car or the guard rail. So again, I open up the bag of magic tricks and reached really deep in there, i go one way(towards the car), counter the skids(left, right a few times) and just barely squeezed by both car and guard rail. Heres the kicker, just before i completely gain control back the rear of my FD scrapes something. ****!!!! i dented my quarter panel, i'm thinking...do i pull over or not? I kept going. Screw it i'll just look at it when i get to ALNY93s house.

To my surprise, when i took the exit and finally got out to check out the "damage", there wasnt even a scratch on it!!!!! NOTHING, NADA! I ended up celebrating a Helluva new years with good friends and a goddamned good story etched in my brain!!!

rt615's are fine for normal driving or even rain but the only thing good in the snow are......SNOW TIRES!

Hmm, I wonder if this has anything to do with your thread about your pet problems on the lounge section.
then again, if your genitals are inside as opposed to the rest of us, I sure understand.

Why not, they seem to be wearing out better than the set of Falkens 712 or the 2 sets of Bridgestones RE71s I had on my FC.
So far the best tire i've used, even quite decent in standing water at speed. Top that off with the cost and I'm most likely picking up another set once these wear out...
As for winter, I was totally surprised, blown away, amazed and very happy that they were able to provide enough traction with a 275mm wide footprint on an snow covered road with a incline.

You do bring up an interesting point though, since when is a modded FD good in the snow anyways???? lol
