Forward the details on the group/event. In general I hate Limerock and given that time of the year it will probably not be ideal for track. However, if I could pull a last minute show and the weather was great it might be ok.

watkins glen is probably even more annoying, and further =P

Poconos is a nice track for beginners. There's a PDA/Motorsports NE event on 10/9 and a PDA/NASA event on 9/29-9/30.

be very careful. lime rock is dangerous when its cold and damp.
Be very easy on your transitions from brake to throttle and vice versa. nothing abrupt. be smooth.

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind. I'm definitely not going to push it to hard.

yea, definitely be smooth, be conservative rather than aggressive. I should follow my own advice!

Lime Rock is ridiculous when it's cold!!!!

During the noontime and afternoon sessions it was alright, but as the temps dropped, the concrete sections became like ice! I spun three times today, two because my tires just didn't want to grip the cold concrete. One of the times was during a warm up lap, 3rd gear, 4k rpm, half throttle and the rear whipped around on me on the left hander in my final session.

The scariest one was the spinout on the final corner leading to the main straight. An instructor in a Spec Miata was behind me and putting a lot of pressure on me. I got worked up, since my fighting spirit didn't want to let him by. On the final turn, instead of dabbing the brakes and turning in, I attempted to left foot brake and turn in, carrying slightly more speed than usual. I ended up exceed the grip level of my rear tires, and started spinning at 90 mph. I caught it, but it spun the other way. Luckily, the car managed to find a way to the dirt pit on the left side of the main straight, 5 feet away from the guardrail.

I think i shat my pants then.

If you guys have google maps, enter in the following coordinates in the address field and switch to satellite view:

My scary spinout, I ended up in the sandpit by the main straight:
41.9300916667,-73.3857466511

place where I spun on my warmup lap:
41.926771,-73.381323

This track really is slippery when cold!
