Thumbs down Here's the thing...

Ever since I bought my car (3 1/2 weeks ago) It's started fine, gages have been fine day in, day out... Follow proper fluid days multiple times daily, adding oil -> little every fill up, except right after oil change. Things going great, blah blah blah....

TUESDAY
- Cruising around Nashua, NH, kinda hot, kinda humid...
- While checking tire pressure I noticed some coolant driping down the slop...
- Check my coolant... fine...
- Drove it home... Let it cool... Parked it...

WEDNESDAY
- Worked, took the pimping Plymouth Light Blue Mini Van to work
- Got out of work, ready to cruise in my new little lady...
- Started up the car, hood open in garage, seemed unusually loud for the daily start...
- *!* Abnormal noises... *!*
- Backed out of garage, so I could look under the hood properlly...
- Gets to front of car...
- *!* Noises get a little louder... Almost like a jack hammer, like a rapid double tap... *!*
- Rushed to shut off the car, no sooner do I sit down, when the rapid taps make it to a 3rd decipal, and just before I could turn the key the coolant light poped on...

I FEAR FOR THE WORST...

It has been killing me on the inside for days, and though I have gotten some insight from this site in the last 4 hours of reading, I have not read anything pertaining to the jack hammer esc noise...

I thought it could be so called "engine knocking" but the Mazda dealer informed me that "rotary engines do not knock".... I am fairly new to the rotary, but it sounded like a knock to me, maybe not a knock by piston engine terms, but it sounded like Black death knocking at my door.

Any ideas? I have read the coolant refilling procedures, but that means that the car would need to be run, and the way it sounds, makes me not want to turn the keys with the clutch depressed...

O-do-dah-day...

Well, you have a coolant leak, so I'd start with the waterpump... Maybe the bearing let go inside the pump? As far as Rotary engines knocking, tell the dealer he's full of ****. Rotary engines CAN get a noise like rod knock. It's from a spun e-shaft bearing. I found this out the hard way. 3 times...... Good luck!

LoL

It's looking like it was just the overflow with the coolant... and as far as the noise is concerned it's looking like an exhaust leak before the downpipe... Still needs to be seen by a mechanic, but had it up all day and got the coolant up to par, but the noise just won't go :-x
