Help! Failed NY emissions test. Need good rotary shop.
Hello everybody,
This is my first post and hopefully y'all can help me out here.
I just purchased my first Rx7 -1994 Touring. I just failed the emissions test for NYS inspection. =(
Here are the vehicle readings:
HC 2.28gpm (limit 0.80gpm)
CO 44.68gpm (limit 15.00gpm)
NOx 1.15 gpm (limit 2.00 gpm)
So it looks like I'm below the limit for NOx, but way above the limits for hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
The car isn't modified (yet) and the turbos feel good when I get into the boost.
The car has 60,900 miles on it and it was warmed up pretty good on my
way to the inspection station.
I've been told it could be:
EGR
Catalytic converters are worn out
Thermal reactor
Plugs
O2 sensor
Air pump
Any suggestions? Or can you suggest a good rotary shop in the New York City area?
Thanks.

That's what I said... cars made before 1996 do not need to be emissions tested, at least not in my part of NY.
I believe if you brought your car into Dutchess county for an inspection, it would pass. Ask ALNY, he appears to know more about it than I do.
