Have to take my single turbo through CT emissions...

Hey everyone, im new here...i am picking up my new rx7 next saturday...and i am buying it out of state so i have to take it through CT emissions. Its a single turbo conversion with a t62-1 setup. As of right now it has a catless midpipe, so i am assuming i have to order a high flow cat first before i try and even go through emmisions. BUT i also know that the air pump is removed from it....is that going to mess me up as well? Any advice would be great, thanks

Greg

It will probably be challenging to get that to pass emissions. It probably has a street ported motor and a standalone such as the PFC. You'll need the cat, air pump and tuning tricks to get it to pass. If you don't know how to tune it yourself, you'll be running around trying to find someone who does (not many people do). Check the Single Turbo section as there is a thread stickied there with single turbo emissions info.

If you don't have an emissions hookup, you may want to consider a car that has a better chance of passing.

You will never even come close to passing emissions without a cat. Make sure you do a tune up and change the oil. Run that bitch like you stole it before the test session will also help. Also make sure your air pump is running correctly, they might have taken it off if they did not run a cat.

Hit me up if your up for some CT meets this year.

Im in Coventry CT. Im down for any meets...as long as i get it registered and to do that i need to pass emissions. This is what i plan to do:

Order the rx7store.net high flow cat midpipe (you CAN use the airpump w it)
The airpump on mine was removed so heres my plan:

Im a diagnostic technician at a small independant garage so i know my cars very well, especially the electronic aspect. I am going to put a VW/Audi Secondary Air Injection Pump in the rx7, wire it to ignition swithc power and have a secondary switch as well. My fd has power fc so i am going to lean it out a bit at idle and part throttle. Change plugs, oil change. So when i go for emissions i will switch the airpump on so it constantly is running no matter what. With that and the high flow cat i think i have a chance. I know a guy that does emissions, he cant make the car pass, but he can "overlook" some visual stuff (i.e the airpump...)

Any other ideas or thoughts on my idea are more than welcome

I'm doing the same on mine. I have emissions testing next month for my 85 (yeah last time) I'm wiring a ford electric air pump directly to the cat. It will be relayed and remotely switch for the test. Then its off and the headers go back on.

Gforce, I just put my cat back on along with an electric air pump. When I get back from vacation I'm going in for the test. When I pass you could pick up the airpump if you want. I got it off ebay for $40 plus shipping. You could have it for $40 and I wired it with a relay, so it will be drop and play.
