Through various issues, coolant, hot start, being out of the country, busy with family, pure laziness, I haven't driven the FD in a while. Long enough I need to flush the fuel lines, replace plugs, to get the car running, then make sure the coolant gets sucked back in from the overflow tank, brake job, inspection, then I can start driving again... I'm startin' this week. Oh, and I picked up a side project coding up a RTS game. I think I can slow down when I'm dead.

Anyone have the special tool to install the bearings in the front and rear stationary gears? I'd like to borrow or buy it off of someone if they are not using it at the moment. Thanks, Jim

Help! Seatbelt light won't turn off!
Okay, didn't know where to ask this but I need to know where i can go to get an inspection sticker in Virginia Beach. My car passes with flying colors on everything except one thing. My seatbelt light has not wanted to turn off after buckling up for about two months now. I took it to a couple shops to see if it would pass with this issue. Everywhere i take it says they will fail me because of a stupid light bulb won't turn off! WTF?!? Everyone says will have to hook it up to a computer blah blah blah give me money is all I'm hearing from these guys. I know the car is 100% safe and there is nothing wrong with my seatbelts except for the light. I did talk to one guy who suggested pulling the light bulb out but that sounds like a lot of work cause wouldn't i need to pull the whole dash to get the the bulb. I use this car as a daily driver and don't have the time to pull my dash out cause i work everyday.
Any suggestions or a place that will over look this (in my opinion) non issue?

if it's a 1st gen, the gauge cluster is rather easy to remove.
Either way I know of two local inspection stations that are not looking to fail you for stupid stuff like loose bolts on the the door panel door handles.
Hit me up privately if you need help.

I'm sorry. I forgot to mention the most important part. Its a 1991 Mazda Rx7 Turbo. Shes stock except for a radio unit installed back in 96. The automatic seat belts haven't worked in a long time but are secure and all the way back where they should be. The light hasn't been a problem until about two months ago.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a lifetime warranty on the seatbelts and wouldn't this be covered under it? If so you can always go to the dealer. I remember in a FC I used to own the automatic belt stopped working and Hall Mazda fixed it for free, they told me that safety equipment like seat belts and airbags are covered as long as they weren't tampered with.

I think your right. I just ran into this a little while before I saw your post.
Rotary Resurrection home of the budget rebuild.
After I bought the car over a year ago I took my car to Hall Mazda to see if I could get my belts fixed because it was a recall but they told me that it was already performed back in 1996 and they couldn't fix them anymore. Now that I just found that page I linked too I'm going to go over there heads to get my car fixed. I can't believe they lied to me but maybe they didn't know so I'll have to contact them soon to get it cleared up. Looking into it deeper and I found out its one of the only exceptions in any Mazda warranty that is a guaranteed lifetime of the car warranty. I assume they must not see these cars rolling into their shops very often anymore.

FB Parts car. Anyone have or know of a FB parts car that is local? I'm finding more and more stuff that I need to get mine going again. Need the metal pieces directly behind the seats that holds the storage bins in place. Both sides in mine are completely rusted out.

Anyone need any 3rd gen parts... got a 93 CYM R1 Still waiting for a title., but I think I am going to part it out. really wanted to fix it ,but I need to get my 10th Anniversary back on the road. It does have a Ported Pettit or Peter Farrel motor with less than 10,000 miles on it. Less Turbos. It has been sitting since 05 without running so I am sure it needs to be gone through. I did lube it in 05, but it is not free spinning and I dont want to to spin it and hurt the seals. Any way pm or call 757 621 6338 if you need anything. Also it has some black interior pieces, some in ok shape.

Just putting it out there but problem solved and got my inspection with no problem.
Oh and anyone with a 2nd gen that no longer has working automatic shoulder belts can get them replaced for free from any Mazda dealership even if the recall has been done before. I'm getting mine done soon, they were fixed back in 1996 but they are going to fix them again for me within the next week or two. I already set it up. I'm pretty stoked!

New 1st gen owner
I just got an 82 first gen in June. The overall condition of the car is in great shape. The odometer reads 39,xxx and the condition of the car reflects this number.
Since I had the car I performed only minor repair work to get and keep it on the road. I would like to get someone more familiar with this vehicle to take a look at it for me.
I replaced many of the vacuum lines, new carburetor base gaskets, and removed the shutter valve. I ultimately eliminated any vacuum leaks, and performed a number of other unrelated repairs.
The vehicle is still having a fuel issue. The only way I have been able to keep it running is to set the choke out until it keeps the venturi fuel suction. Without it set the car dies when i touch the gas.
I believe the fuel pump is taking air, for I hear the pump gurgling. I plan on replacing the fuel filter today, but I need another week before I can buy the new pump. My wife has me on a vehicle allowance, and I need to choose my repairs wisely.
Is anyone available around Hampton to give me some insight, and be able to adjust the mixture and idle for me.

Ya I have some parts in mind, and would really like to get components to swap my auto for a standard.
I dont live far from you either. If you know Rx7's, I am looking for someone locally to take a look at mine for me. I am new to rotary engines.
