Well, for anyone "The best tire" is very depedant on what you need. Because I am an autocrosser and track guy, the amount of dry adhesion is more important to me than it is to most other people. I give up street mileage for better stick.
Given those parameters, it is easy to see what tires are the best just by looking at autocross results. The Falkens and Kumho MX are far and away the choices. The Falken Azenis RT-615 is the least expensive. Hankook has been putting in lots of effort in developing race and autocross tires lately, but the tires have just not caught on. Their "R" compound tire appears to be close to the performance of the domiant Hoosiers, and their equivalent to the Azenis appears to be very equal, but the tires have not caught on for some reason.
I am leaning towards the Falken, but I want to give the Hankook a fair shake. Since I have to live with a tire near my size for the Falken, and the Hankook is availble in exactly the size I want, it has an advantage.

I might just drive the truck and trailer to Pete's and unload the car....
I have driven around on the Hoosiers, but they are getting sorta thin right now. They are actually just barely legal right now by street rules, but if you get stopped by a cop it would be a true hassle.
It is cool that several of you guys are going to the RX8 meet!!!!

Good time at Awful Arthurs today. Saw Dan, some new 8 owners and a new FD owner. He went to Chicago to pick up a R1. He bought it from a collector, original paint and it was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, at the last compression check it was running 6's (80k orig miles) so he's lookin' at a rebuild pretty soon. Nice enough guy, dammit, what was his name??
Damn yochie , you always have a good time , Hell Im still out here puting a Fd back together , should have it running by the end of the night . YOu could have called and seen what I wanted to eat , hahahahah
