great story!!
hey guys,
i`m new to this forum and i haven`t had an rx7 for about 10 years,i sold my first gen with body kit to buy my house a long time ago,but my husband promised me we would do another one someday, well someday has come, found a red 85 gsl on ebay in allentown ,pa,(i`m in york,pa) and we snagged it and it`s actually getting ready to go to the body shop soon,so maybe i`ll make it top a meet some day. but you all sound like you have some wild newer ****,but i`m an old fashioned gal.
anyhow.now for the funny story..
took my rx7 to the shop for inspection and i knew the dimmer was bad,but something was shorting it out and we couldn`t find it and after about 3 days of searching, the repair shop called and said come get this ***** ,we can`t figure ir out. so ,we go get it and i get to searching on the computer for wiring diagrams and get directed to this site!
found some posts on the dimmer switch and how there are wires under the shift boot that people connect by accident! anyhow, checked my wires, husband had accidently hooked them up when he put in another tranny and we had that ***** fixed in about 20 minute, bypassed the dimmer and went back to the shop and they say..how`d you find it?
i said, power of the internet man!! got friends in high places!!!
anyhow thanks a million and i`ll be seeing you all sometime!!! mazda gal!!!

I am not a leg humper but just rather curious as to what the new person looks like. I think you should do before and after pics of the body work, both your's and the 7's haha jk
Glad to see another 7 owner in the area! I'm down around the Lancaster/Harrisburg area. You should stop by www.yamscarclub.com and check it out. York area Mazda club.
Congrats on your find and hope everything goes well with the body work =)

Hey, I just saw your post.
I'm from Mechanicsburg. Yeah this site has come in handy for many of my repairs on my '89 RX-7. I had to repair my wiper switch and I found out exactly how to do it and exactly what parts I needed to do it on this site. Like you said "power of the internet" sure changed things from years ago.
I'm a member of the York Area Mazda Society (YAMS) too. Check our web site out www.yamcarclub.com and bring your husband and yourself to one of our meetings. There is no charge to check out our forum but you must join to post, meetings are open to everyone. Next meeting and directions are listed under Calendar of Events section of the web site. We are not a kids car club. Our members range in age from teens to retired. Married and single. I'm in my middle 50's and married. Age doesn't seem to matter when you start talking cars. While most of the club are miata owners, I'm trying to recruit more RX-7's.
Some of us are into running the SCCA Susquehanna region autocrosses which are going to be held at the York fairgrounds, Hershey park, and Park City in Lancaster. You can find some of us at any one of those events. Also we will be at the Carlisle Import/Kit car show on May 19-21 with some of our Mazdas.
Good luck with your '85!
