VA f1blueRx7 (Mike) was involved in an accident

Don't know the whole story, but he is OK (thank god)!

Here is the email I got from him:

"I was in a car accident tonight I'm writing to yall rydas frm the er. I'm ok I litterally walked away from a rollover accident with some scratches on my leg and a messed up left hand. I was on my way home from my birthday party and a f250 crossed the double line into my lane in the baltimore fort mchenry tunnel just as I was going in, I swerved, glanced off the wall went sideways rolled up onto the side of the car then slammed back down onto all four wheels then hit the other wall and slid to a stop. I spent a lot of my personal time hand building the car but I don't evencare I'm just happy to be alive. I saw headlights coming for me when I was sideways. Without a doubt the best birthday present I could have ever had I got tonight and that's being alive and not badly hurt.

Peace ill see yall in a few days I'm hurtin right now."

Lets keep him in our prayers!

I'm ok. Prides hurt a little bit but no worse for wear. I was pushing against the steering wheel so hard I bent it forward in the accident and jammed my middle finger up under the gauge hood so it's really difficult to bend it. That is the only real injury I received. The rest are just scratches/abrasions on my left arm and leg. I gotta say the FC saved my life. It took the hit in the front like a champ, was wearing both seat belts and it kept me good and tight in the seat. I probably hit the tunnel wall going about 50-55 mph. If you go through the right hand tunnel on SB 95 about 50 yards in you'll see a nice big black mark going up the left hand wall. I was just chillin in the slow lane the whole time. Impatient ************ probably didn't even see me. He was trying to cut around a slower vehicle.

Cars toast, but everything else other then the cooling system should swap right into another FC.

I'm not sure if I'm going to rebuild yet or just sell everything. I tell you what I'm not going to do: Buy a bike.

When I went to the impound to get my stuff out of the car there was a bike (wrecked) sitting out front. I told the guy "Ya know, I'm buying my car out of impound with my birthday money, but I feel lucky as **** I'm alive and not the guy that owns that bike". The impound lot attendant says "Funny you should say that, that guy isn't with us anymore."

What?
there was a wrecked GSXR brand new looked like. the driver was killed. If I had been on a bike and the truck was in the same situation and hadn't seen me I would have been killed on the first impact.

Got philosophical for a moment.

Glad you are doing OK

You MUST get back on a LS1 FC\FC; who else am I going to race when I finish my FC?!?!? Whatever you do, please, PLEASE don't finish your next project, before I finish mine; it's kind of embarassing, ya'know!

BTW - About that smog pump ...

Yeah, I'm not taking any pictures of the car. Looking at it already kinda makes me nauseous, having pictures to remind me would only make it worse. I'll be glad once I've got everything pulled from the car and it's on it's way to the junkyard. Once my finger is healed up I'm just going to take a few days and get everything stripped and put in boxes awaiting the new shell.

He never stopped. I didn't imagine he would. No one stopped actually, but the ambulance was there within 2 minutes after it happened. I was amazed. He knew he was the cause of the accident there was no reason for him to stop.

My first step after coming to a stop was to get out, check under the hood for fires, run for the battery cut off switch in the passenger compartment then grab the fire extinguisher. Then I sat down on the side of tunnel in shock realizing my left hand wasn't moving much, and checking to see if the rest of my body parts where still in the correct spots.

I am glad you are ok bro...

I dunno there is just that deep need for justice and all. I guess you can just hope that karma or something catches up to him. Is your insurance company atleast accepting the story?

It's in the police report, but unverified by witnesses. The claim is under investigation by my insurance company. Once they receive the police report they will make a determination based on my story cooperating with what the Maryland Transit police officer found at the scene.

In Maryland as I understand it, an accident caused by a 3rd party that leaves the scene is covered under your uninsured motorist policy. But I don't know what the criteria is. I don't expect any money from my policy other then to cover my medical expenses and lost wages for time off.

Frankly I'm just glad to be alive. My son still has a father and I'm unscathed and should return to work tomorrow. The need for retaliation/anger is low. I can buy another shell and get it painted. FC's are cheap. I'm sorta excited because now I get to go back and do all the things I wish I had done the first time with my swap/car.

The officer said he would review the cameras but the way the police officer made it sound was more like "I'm doing you a favor by putting in the police report that it was an F-250 that cut you off, but I don't have enough time to look at the cameras for a single vehicle accident."

you make a good point. You can always look for an FD shell if you want. Hell, you are in driving distance to Fritz's place and I hear he has a colony of them out there.

If you ever need help for a weekend, I have family down that way. Beer and some pizza and its all good
