Come on down. The more the merrier. Even if you have to leave early to head to work.

Its in the morning. I think we're supposed to head out around 10am. Breakfast before that.

We will be done well before that, I remember leaving the brewery before the sun went down in the spring so it was probably around 7 or so. I was one of the last ones there because we had to troubleshoot a Miata that wouldn't start back up. Go figure, a trip full of Rx-7s and the Miata is the one that has an issue.

Saw a red FD driving east on 193 at the entrance to UMD at 5PM today. Looking good!

No, you could try calling a machine shop and see if they have a vendor they outsource to.

It's not local but they advertise in GRM so worth checking out: Swain Tech Coatings | Industrial Coatings | High Performance Racing Coatings | Technical coatings to solve problems of heat, wear, corrosion, and friction

I asked a friend of mine and he pointed me to ASCo in manasas: Automotive/Motor Sport Services - Northern Virginia, United States

but Swain isn't too far away in NY so shipping probably wouldn't be terrible

we'll see. Thanks guys.

I had a great time today at the CDC Test & Tune! My first driving "event" ever. It was nice seeing some fellow rotor-heads there.

Hey Jessie, glad you could make it out. Your car looked and sounded good out there and it seemed like you were getting the hang of it really quickly! Sorry you couldn't stay all day, it did dry out a little bit in the afternoon. Elaine took some video of you so I'll post that when I get it.

How did the event go Matt? Was it a decent course setup? Jesse, what are your takeaways from the experience? Did Kevin make it out too?

Again, sorry I had to miss. Hope you had a good time and I get to see you all at another event next year.

Hey Rocky, sorry you couldn't make it out. The weather wasn't as good the forecast made it out to be; it was basically wet and/or misting all morning. It started to clear up a bit after lunch and the course started to dry out and speed up but it was never fully dry.

It was a lot of fun drifting the FD around like a crazy man at first but then I got serious and tried to keep it planted but I only had 1/4 tank of fuel in the AM. I filled up to a full tank over lunch and took 3 psi out of the back tires and that, along with some drying time, netted me 3 seconds right off the bat. I think I nabbed FTD on my last run with a 44.3 per the timing folks but there's no official results so not 100% on that.

The course was pretty simple; basically a full counterclockwise loop, crossover, and a 3/4 clockwise loop with a slalom where the cars grid up that you end up running once in each direction. Except for the start box, there weren't any real tight turns but that didn't stop a lot of people from spinning out in the high speed sections on the wet pavement anyway Kevin did show up as well but had to leave after the morning runs. I'll post up some vids when I get them off Elaine's phone.

I'm definitely going Saturday, not sure about Sunday yet. I'm only an hour from the track so I'm not getting a hotel.

I'm in the Woodbridge area, and by night you mean like 5 pm lol? It's been getting dark so early recently.

I actually doubt I'll take my FC to Summit Point, probably just take my WRX.

Stop being a *****, take it and drift it. I have some vert wheels with old sticky Yokohama's you can borrow and burn up.
Once you get out there, it's really a lot of fun, even in an N/A if you've got an LSD.

Ha!
Thanks, Rocky.

I am a total hypocrite though, last time I drove my car(besides in the neighborhood) was in April 2012. It developed an awful oil leak so I put a new pan gasket on it and took it to Drift Nirvana, I determined the leak was from the front cover and lost about 4 quarts of oil throughout the day.
I parked it and started on my forever incomplete 6-port Turbo project.
I'm the guy that used to rag on the forever incomplete guys. I realize now, life gets in the way.

Hopefully I'll get started in February, I've got just about everything I need since Elio let me borrow his rotary engine stand adapter.
