Cell phone coverage at Summit Point and various Ski resorts.

Wondering who frequents Summit Point and perhaps some of the PA, MD, WV, and VA ski resorts. (Liberty, RoundTop, WhiteTail, Bryce, Canaan Valley, Wisp) What kinda cell coverage do you get?

My Nextel was on and off this summer. I'm ditching them for a cheaper (This includes all other providers.) provider.

DAK has Sprint and that was okay... Although my Roomie has Sprint and it charges for Roaming. **** that noise. Plus, thier CS sucks ***. Other friends have gotten the same bill three times a month, pay it, and they get the phone shut off for non payment. They had to submit the cancelled check or CC bill to get it reactivated. No credit for the mistake.

Looking at Verizon. They don't advertise service out there, but they can roam on the Sprint network. Verizon does not charge for Roaming.... This equates to good, but I'd like someone to confirm.

I'm not a fan of GSM providers (T-Mobile and Cingular)... Especially in D.C.

Why aren't you a fan of GSM providers? I've had great service from cingular in dc, summit point, nyc, outer banks, and california (north, south, and in between). Of course, I got great customer service from Sprint also so maybe I'm not a good judge.

My verizon was fine at Summit Point this past summer with no roaming charges. It also works pretty good at VIR, but there are a couple of places around the track where I lose connection.

I have Cingular, GSM, however it does work at Summit Point. My friend has Verizon and it works up at SP as well.

FYI, I work for Metro and Verizon is the only company that has service on the train. Other phones will work, but only on rome using Verizon's system. I have No-tell (Nextel) and it sucks. It used to be really good but I heard that they got in trouble with the FCC for interfering with emergency signals.

The last time I was at SP (2004?), my ATT wireless was pretty iffy there, but it did work.

My parents both work for Metro and I've worked for the subcontractors before. That's another reason I'm looking at Verizon.

I'm fairly happy with Nextel except for the cost. I'm paying $50 for 500 minutes, plus $15 for Text messaging and data access, and they tack on $10 in taxes.

Not only that, but a decent phone costs much more than any other provider.

The added coverage of the Metro tunnels would be a boon. I just want comparable or greater coverage elsewhere.

I did have coverage at Summit Point last year, but it was spotty.

My biggest problems with a cell phone on a ski resort was keeping it warm enough to operate. Even if I kept it under my insulated clothes.

I keep it in my front pocket, next to my ***** where I'm warmest and where the radiation can do it's best work.

Nah. I'd probably only use it at the lodge. No point in paying for hotel phone calls when I pay the cell bill.

I'm pretty sure Verizon covers all the ski areas you mentioned.
