Carlisle Performance and style
Found out today that there are only going to be 2 RX-7's at the show, my 84 and someone else out of almost 900 cars... that's crazy, anyone know who the other car is?

it's held at the carlisle fair grounds in carlisle PA. 3 years ago alot of the kids got real out of hand and the show was banned. Two years ago they held it at the fairgrounds in harisburg, but the same thing happened. Last year it was up at state college, but that had to be about the worst show i ever went to. The original shows at carlisle were great, huge turnout of cars and there were always a ton of vendors, mostly for hondas and crap, but somethings you could still get for a decent price. I was hoping more RX-7's would be there.

The performance and style show is May 5-7, Like BTEETS9914 said it's a young crowd more interested in raising hell than admiring good cars. Most of the cars are Hondas. I haven't be to one since the Carlisle show that was shut down and at that one I only saw 2 RX-7's on display. The people there who were showing their cars were fine they work hard and spend time and money to get their cars spotless, it was the burnouts and drag racing on puplic streets and underage drinking that ended the show. What a shame!
The Import/Kitcar show is two weeks later, May 19-21. I'm a member of York Area Mazda Society (yamscarclub.com) and we will have some of our cars on display at this event. This isn't necessarily a judged event like the performance and style show (my car is in need of a paint job), it's more of an import meet and some pretty NICE kitcars (Cobra, Lotus7, Lombourgini, Porsche speedster, Superformance) on display. Also the SCCA is running a driving school on Saturday on a small track at the back of the show. Sunday they are running an Autocross on the same track. Bring your car out and learn how to drive it the right way. If you make it, stop by our YAMS tent and say hello.

What i liked the most about the show was the amount of vendors in the past that were there. Obviously the rampant underage drinking was a prob in the past. However even though i don't fit the younger crowd anymore perhaps, its usually the type of show i enjoy going to.
just look for my white 84 FB, i should be there on sat and sunday.

Hey all...I was at the show all three days. I saw 2 Fb's ,2 2nd gens and more Fd's than i thought I would. I got some pics from the show on my cardomain page at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/373244/5
These are the 2 1st gens I saw. I did not have my 83 rx with me, but I was there with my turbo mx3 as well as 2 friends with mx3's, one of which placed 3rd in the mazda class, behind an rx7 and a miata i believe. Here is a shot of my mx3 , maybe those of you who were at the show saw it.
Well, later all!
