Carlisle Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals - May 15 - May 17, 2009

I know it's busy in the Northeast in May with the Maryland BBQ on May 23 and the OCC meet on May 2 - 3, but you might also want to consider the Carlisle Import and Kit Car Nationals on May 15 - 17.

This is NOT the ricer meet that has been kicked off of the Carlisle fair grounds in the past, but a very widely attended gathering of foreign sports and vintage cars, supported by the likes of Grassroots Motorsports and Classic Motorsports. The other half of the show is the Kit/Replicar's. You are going to fall in love with one of them, I'm sure. There a lot of Cobras, Lotus 7s, Porsche speedsters, Lamborginis, Fiero V8 conversions, Noble, Superformance, all the big names in Kit car industry usually show up with many of their products. Lots of eye candy!

This year the theme is Vintage Japanese Vehicles, where they will be showcasing interesting and beautiful preserved and restored Celicas, 240-300Zs, Datsun Roadsters, and RX-7s. Here is the opportunity for the RX-7 club to shine.

In addition, you can sign up for judging, there is a small SCCA autocross all 3 days and a portable dyno. This is really an interesting show.

All the information can be found here. http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/ce/events/import/
You want to sign up for the Show Field for $20 (non-judged) to enter the show grounds and congregate with all of the other Mazdas. If you want to enter the judging, it's $50.

This used to be promoted by York Area Mazda Society (YAMS), but I don't know if they still exist.

If you intend to go and sign up before April 12, and we get more than 25 people, we can get a free club tent. Please sign up under RX7/RX8 Club.

I think I'll be able to attend this one, but only for the Saturday. Looks like a good event, given the vintage Japanese vehicles theme. Maybe I'll even sign up my '89T2 in the non-judged show field.
