Are you getting charge to the battery at idle?

Should be about 13.5-14 volts

You should be able to start the car and disconnect the battery, and it continue to run on its own. Can you do this?

That would mean that your alt is not putting out enough to run the system and it is using the battery to do so.

The battery is made for starting the car, the alternator is made to run the car electrical system and put a small charge back to the battery to maintain it.

Im just telling you stuff that we already know. Maybe you should post about this in the FC section that way it can get more fews and more people can chime in with their advice.

anyone know how reliable the pep boys/auto zone alternator test is?

i just changed my battery terminals and hooked them up to an old battery just to see if i got a connection..and i got a spark when i put them on. with the old terminals i have never gotten a spark..this makes me think the connection is better
