Annual (8th Edition) End of Season RE MEGA Meet of the Quebec RX Club 2011
Hi everyone!
When we made the trip down to the Carlisi meet, we sensed some people may be tempted to make their own trip for a little French immersion up in QC.
Here is the official communiqué regarding our mega end of season meet:
It would be a true honnor to welcome/accomodate those of you who decide to make the trip!
Please let me know if you have any questions, you can also find the official meet thread on the Quebec RX club forum and even though most comments will be in French on there, don't be shy to join in.. in the language of your choice

Based on a quick google map search from New York this is only a 7 hour drive. If I can get my brakes fixed it might be an interesting weekend road trip. Anyone else interested in this?

A user from NY posted in the Canadian section that he was coming over.
Might want to check with him (o:
... with hopefully more to come, we were a few cars when we drove down to NJ last month and that was a sweet road trip.
Make sure you have your passports ready, for the border.
I could maybe check for reduced hotel rates in a downtown Montreal hotel, but of course, by experience hotels.com or redtag will probably have cheap rates, too.
As the day approaches, I will post if any major road works happen, so you can adjust your google maps accordingly.

As promised I checked for road work, nothing to note this week-end but that doesn't mean there won't be road work, by any stretch.
For instance, when you come in to the island of Montreal, I assume from I87 / A15 North, right after you pass Champlain Bridge, you should take the offramp for A10 West -Bonaventure Expressway. Then, the 720 East until you reach Papineau (A19 North). From there you can reach the 640 East and reach the destination.
Avoid the A15 North like the plague once you passed the bridge as it's a real gridlock hell.
For information on road works in QC, you can go to quebec511.gouv.qc.ca
You can also tune in to AM 940, which is an all-traffic station.

For those that didn't make it to our meet, here is a little "montage" done by our resident Steven Spielberg of our end of year meet and ride.

Mother Nature didn't give us the best she could have . . . . . . nevertheless, we all had a great time . .. . . . . as per usual.

Even though it was rather on the chilly side, it was a great meet. If we had waited another week to hold the meet, we would have had summer-like weather. Since Jonathan from Goopy Performance who drove all the way from Stony Point, NY, was already in town on Friday, we decided not to postpone the meet.
The best part of our drive . . . . . . ambushing the Lamborghini Gallardo . . . . . . priceless !!! He had 3-4 FDs up his behind . . . don't think he appreciated it much.
Hope to have you and others from NY and NJ come up for a visit next year.
