There's a place I took my Rx7 to get done called Jamaica Rack and Axle. They do everything there and have a huge dedicated AC machine, I think snap on.

When I took my FD there, they requested I change my receiver dryer since it was an open system. They then vacuumed the system (most other places don't do this) and held the vacuum for like 30min to make sure there are no leaks.

They then added the refridgerant and all was great. They put a thermometer in the vents and let the car run for a while and made sure all was ok. Before taking it there and paying a few extra bucks, I took it 2 other places that had great deals but the AC leaked out each time.

It was about $200 and the receiver dryer (which I bought myself) was around $100. It was more than regular shops but I never had any issues with leaks and the AC was freezing cold for such an old car.

I had a leak etc so it was more. The address is on this post...

A/C is not that hard a thing to figure out, any good mechanic shop should be able to do it

they put the dye, and look for the leak, kind of simple really.

no, Freeze-12 is a derivative, i think a combination of R134a and R142b if I'm not mistaken, cools better than 134a, is the popular opinion of the forum.
